45 y/o Jason Washington, a US Navy Veteran was KILLED after he tried to stop a bar fight in Oregon but had accidentally dorpped his GUN from his holster to the ground and went to pick it up but police SHOT him when he did!!

The shooting has sparked outrage after cellphone footage showed him helping stop a drunken fight between men in Portland State University as witnesses said the father of 3 girls was a good Samartian and wasnt involved in the scuffle that broke out but attempted to stop the fight following a RACIST SLUR!!

He had a pistol on his hip that was shown on camera as he was seen trying to diffuse the situation

2 University campus officers nearby showed up to try to stop it but as it escalated, Jason was knocked back to the ground and his gun fell out at the same time. He has a permit for the gun and was legally able to carry it around.

When he turned to pick up the gun, the officers yelled "GUN" and told him to stop but he continued to pick it up and that's when they shot him several times

A witness said however that the officers shot him without hesitation after seeing him pick up the gun and not knowing beforehand that he had a gun on him the whole time during the scuffle

The officers who shot him were identified as Shawn McKenzie and James Dewey who are now on paid leave

Protestors erupted as his grieving family and members of the student union rallied against the decision to arm campus police

The university however controversially voted in 2014 to ARM officers that drew criticism from students who feared it would make them less safe.

Alyssa LeCesne said there were a lot of people in Portland upset over this who confirmed that Jaso was not involved in the fight

Mike Joseph, a friend of Jason said there was no way he should have been shot because he had a permit to carry and demands action taken against the officers

The bar manager said police had instructed Washington not to pick up the gun when it fell but did it anyway after several warnings

Not for nothing, but carrying a gun -- or any weapon other than maybe a can of mace -- into a bar is just fucking stupid and picking up a weapon in the middle of an altercation when cops are near is practically signing your own death warrant.

It really looks like he just had his gun in his pocket and not in a proper holster.

If police aren't getting charged for shooting a guy pulling up his pants, it seems unlikely they will get charged for shooting a guy who grabbed a gun.

Why isn't there more news stories about police dying unfairly? I want to see more of those.

The answer is YES!!!!!

it fucking sucks. hard. but nobody is being crazy for not wanting a dude pick up a gun during a bar fight.

99% of the time I take the victim's side in cop shootings. but this is one of those rare 1%. this guy pretty much killed himself with his actions. in the middle of a brawl, with cops in the room, you don't make sudden movements towards a gun. he should have just let it be and picked it up later after the drama ended and he could talk to the police calmly and explain the situation.
