Now I'm sure none of you particularly care about the college world series. I'm only bringing this to your attention because it has to be one of the most soul-crushing championship losses of all time.

The setup: The college world series finals is a best of 3, that pitted Arkansas (who has never won a championship) against Oregon State. Arkansas won the first game, and led most of the second. In the 9th inning, Arkansas leads 3-2 and with two outs and one one base, the Oregon State batter hits a pop up in very-much-playable foul territory and... this happens

After three guys botch that catch... the next pitch is a base hit that drives in the tying run, and the next batter hits a home run, going up 5-3, and holding on in the 9th to force game 3. Which Oregon State won 5-0 when their freshman starting pitcher went for a complete game 2-hitter, the lowest amount of hits in a complete game in CWS history.

That botched pop-up foul literally cost them the championship. Ouch.

I was talking to an Arkansas fan during the 8th inning of game 2. He said if they blew game 2 he wasn't going to bother watching game 3. I chuckled after I saw the final result.

Honestly I turned off Game 2 about halfway through, 100% convinced it was over. lulz
