Eliminating superdelegates might not have stopped Hillary, but do that and shift the primaries to a winner take all system for each state, the way Republicans have, and it might have. Hillary got a big lead from some states that went for her by a large margin, which it felt impossible to overcome.

The overall cause of Bernie losing the nomination was getting less votes. Why did he get less votes? It might have been that his platform was less popular with primary voters. It might have been that the Clinton name carried a lot of weight. It might have been Hillary herself being a more appealing candidate to more primary voters.

And it might have been the psychological edge of nearly every superdelegate pledging to Clinton almost immediately.

Of course, it might have been all of these things in different amounts. Getting rid of superdelegates only really deals with one of them, and I really don't think Bernie would have won even if superdelegates didn't exist.

He is literally just Ulti and wants nothing more than attention. There is no way he doesn't run for reelection(and little chance he doesn't win).

I'm pretty confident that Mike Pence would be a weaker candidate than Donald Trump. The only group he really appeals to strongly are the religious conservatives who are going to show up no matter what (even when the person is pretty much the embodiment of sin, apparently!)

Of course, that's not to say he couldn't win anyway

I can see the argument in a three or more person contest where there's a strong incentive to vote for one of the top two candidates. I'm very skeptical that it's a strong force in a 1v1, though (especially given that Clinton won by like 15%).

I could see the argument that perhaps turnout was low because Sanders run was hopeless but thats also clearly untrue because turnout waa pretty healthy (by american primary standards anyway)
