Cbf waiting for article to load, connection being shitty.

Is his proposal "just let everyone come here uncontrolled", or "get rid of them, then create a new agency; or in other words, pretty much, just change their name"?

Here is a quote from it. "Im introducing legislation that would abolish ICE and crack down on the agencys blanket directive to target and round up individuals and families, Pocan said in a statement announcing the legislation.

And once it's abolished (which in itself, it seems weird that he's going to "crack down on the directive" of an agency that will disappear anyway under his policy)... is his plan to create a new agency to do the same thing, or to let people in uncontrolled?

There's a montage of him travelling home. He goes upstairs, the twilight seeping in through the openings in the curtains. He goes upstairs to change into his pajamas. The camera slowly moves in to reveal a large MS-13 tattoo across his upper back. He laughs maniacally, waking the dog. Fade to black.

From article
Pocans bill would immediately dismantle ICE, transfer some of its duties to other agencies and create a commission to advise Congress on how to implement a humane immigration enforcement system that upholds the dignity of all individuals.

So more government oversight? I'm good with that.

How about reforming ICE instead of abolishing it. This is the worst idea from the Democrats in 15 years.

ICE didn't exist 16 years ago. There are people still in congress who voted against its creation. Abolishing it should be a mainstream Democratic view. That Sanders dodged the question the other day was cowardly

Though, from what I've read about this bill, it basically just recreates ICE through different agencies, which is no good.

So it's basically "rearrange things so an agency called ICE no longer exists, but all the functions remain in place".

Pandering at its finest.

My understanding is that ICE itself was put together from other pre-existing agencies that carried out most of it's current functions. If you don't want ICE, and also don't want it to revert back to the pre-2003 arrangement, what are you proposing?

Probably the same thing they propose when they claim that both "keeping kids and parents together" and "seperating the kids from the parents" are human rights violations.

Do you want open borders, and if so, how do you reconcile that with the fact that it hurts poor American workers, especiallh black and Latino?

The fact that undocumented workers can be paid less than minimum wage (and exploited and extorted in other ways) is what hurts American workers. Being able to lord deportation over someone makes them a much more appealing employee than someone who you'll have to pay workers' comp for.

Do you understand basic economics? If you paid immigrants the exact same wages as native poor people, wages would necessarily be lowered because there are more people competing for the same job. This is a basic truth that doesn't depend on documentation at all.

And people like apparently want hundreds of thousands if not millions of people to cross over an open border to take more jobs away from native blacks and latinos.

I mean. I like @Antifar but this attitude kinda confuses me. Before ice we had ins and custom services. We're not gonna not have agencies that deal with the stuff that ice deals with. We can scale back this whole shitty raiding homes and churches and businesses stuff, but we can deal with that with or without ice and we can not deal with it with or without ice, too
