Platinum was awesome and had a ton of post game content.
HeartGold was literally the best Pokemon game and has a ton of post game content
Black did something interesting with the story and had a fun campaign. Eh post game tho.
Black 2 was literally the 2nd best Pokemon game and had a ton of post game content

Then X&Y came and it was ehhhhhhh and barely had any post game.
Then ORAS came and it was fun, but literally no Battle Frontier.
https://imgur.com/ibAcnDg
The director also said he didn't bother putting it because only a handful of people will reach the endgame and kids have a short attention span for things that are challenging in addition to that quote >_> What the actual fuck.
Then SM came and it was okay, but it literally held your hand forever and has barely any post game
Then USUM came and it was worse somehow. Doesn't even add much postgame.

And now Let's Go won't let you enter the Rock gym without a Grass or Water type (but gives Pikachu/Eevee Double Kick anyway, so idk why they would want you to overkill Brock >_>), and lowered the levels of all the trainers shown in Viridian Forest

I feel like Pokemon is dumbing everything down too much and just isn't as fun to play. Sun and Moon gen were so boring

I actually agree, but id say gens 3 and 4 were the best. Gen 5 is ok, fun but ok.

Gen 5 was my personal favorite, but I still really enjoyed Gen 6. Gen 7 is a step down though.

I liked DP >_> I think they were fine. Platinum just improved them a lot and then HGSS literally blew everyone's load with how fucking amazing it is.

Gen 5 made my dick diamonds all around tho. It really sucks that Black 2 only had 1 year of online play before Nintendo was forced to shut down the DS servers.

Overall, i think Gen 5 is the best gen, but HGSS is the best game.

Between platinum and soul silver I dont know if I need another Pokemon game.

I never gave White 2 a full playthrough though. Gen 6 and 7 didny really do much for me, but 7 at least has Mimikyu and Golisipod.

Also not a fan of how Nintendo is inscreasingly spoiling more new Pokemon each gen. Pretty sure the only Pokemon that Nintendo didnt show off in some form from SM's prerelease was that DynamoMan-looking Spider lol.

I loved everything up to Gen 5.

Gen 6 was a wildcard. So many were playing XY/ORAS at launch that it breathed life into the game. It was an amazing experience, especially with the PSS.

However, after that initial wave, Gen 6 really fell flat. It's hard to revisit those games without getting bored halfway through. "The Battle Frontier project has started!"

I can't bring myself to see Alola again. I never entered the Battle Tree because I was done with SM and knew it was a Battle Maison clone featuring characters.

I never completed USUM.

I haven't played Gen 5 yet (but it does sound like something I'd enjoy). Otherwise, I agree.

The good thing about Gen 4 and B2/W2 is that they have a good combination of features and content (post-game, moves and Pokemon). Everything after that lacks post-game content and everything before it lacks moves/Pokemon and features like the Physical/Special split.

Gens 1 and 2 were my favorites *at the time*, but now, other gens have made improvements/additions that I find it hard to go without (plus you have the remakes of course). I only go back for the interesting glitches in Gen 1.

Also, I think Gen 4 (and probably 5) are the most difficult (which isn't saying much). Cynthia puts up a good fight (and the Gym Leaders to a lesser extent).

Another thing I didn't like about Gen 7 is that 80% of the trainers only had 1 or sometimes 2 pokemon. It was so boring to fight trainers when I was steam rolling all of them in like 2 seconds >_>

I really want to like HG/SS but they didn't fix a lot of flaws G/S had. HG/SS had potential to be amazing, but they dropped the ball. Imagine how good they would be if re-worked the level curve and put more of the "new" Pokemon in Johto instead of locking them in Kanto.

I still enjoy it, but I wish they were better.

5 was my favorite. 6 and 7 would be great if they weren't so casualized. I'm hoping Gen 8 is allowed to be harder with Let's Go being for casuals.

Gen 2 is the best, Gen 4 and 5 weren't far behind, Gen 1 is a (somewhat) distant next.

Gen 3 was downright awful, and I haven't played gen 6 onwards yet.
