Because uniform theft cannot be a thing, regardless of race and colour, and the culprit trying to pass for an honest heroic firefighter to get elder, more gullible people, to open their door, and then mug them and slaughter them ?! The firefighter's ethnicity isn't the relevant detail here, imo. People trying to ensure of the true identity of an uniform wearer is simply basic prudence.

Stealing a fire truck and a uniform to look in some backyards seems like an overkill style of robbery.

Isn't there some social theory that most people will just assume you have some sort of authority if you wear a uniform and act like you know what you're doing? I wonder how different the results are between races.

I feel bad for the guy, but child molesters dress up like cops sometimes to abduct kids. I'd rather look like a complete jackass than get robbed, given the option. You could say "confront him and ask to see his credentials" to verify them, but if he's not a good guy that could end in a beatdown.

It sucks that he was reported on for just doing his job and it sucks that people have such little faith in humanity these days because of the bad apples.

White people do indeed burgle so yes one would expect that people do call police on white people in uniform sniffing around a residence because they're not sure if they're legit. I'm gonna hazard a guess that they don't have an inspector going around too often checking out houses for fire safety. It's probably not that regular of an occurrence. It's gonna make people suspicious especially in a crime-ridden neighborhood.

Anyone who just assumes that a white person (that you don't know anything about) is automatically guilty of racism because there was a misunderstanding between them and a black person who was somehow inconvenienced (slightly or severely) is being racist. I pointed out how he was a victim of racism, like a normally do. And if he is the only person getting the 12 called on him then yes he is still a victim of racism. Double so after he even showed ID and people kept hounding him.

I get that you're trying to make a funny (which isn't even too bad of a funny, if I may), but you haven't pointed a single wrong point in my post. It's basic cautious behaviour, especially from elder, more vulnerable people, to always verify the identity of an official uniform wearer who could very well be impersonated by a delinquent (such things happen more often than you'd think). Especially if something fishy may stick out, such as his shoes not matching the uniform.
But liberal soy-flakes will always throw tantrums over nothing, and see things that aren't there. It's what they do. I should hope you are not swelling their ranks :(

In Southern California, there have been reports of people pretending to be inspectors and robbing people. The general advice is that if you have suspicion or are unsure, you can ask for ID and call the police if you have concerns. I imagine the advice is the same in Oakland.

With that said, the fact that this happened with only a black inspector and not the white inspectors is concerning.
