I don't play online all the time and when I do there's usually enough people to find a game unless it's something obscure. Makes little sense to add even more.

Obviously it allows friends who don't have the same system to play with eachother. It allows accounts for games to be transferable to other consoles. Not that hard to see that as mutually beneficial for console owners.

Not a lot care about cross play. I dont want to play Battlefield (PS4) with PC players. Do you?

I didn't know you were the spokesperson for the entire gaming community. To answer your very specific question, I don't play battlefield so no.

For those of you who don't understand what is going on. Fortnite data can be transferred through multiple console, but once ypur console is on PS4 all that data is now locked to the PS4 only. Imagine going to ypur friends house who has a PlayStation and you use a computer. Enter your online code and start playing with your buddy. When you get back to play on your other system, you can transfer your data back over. So all the money you spent or your parents spent is now trapped on a console you don't even have.

Being able to play with friends who play the same game but on a different console is a pretty big advantage. I have to say Sony is really only hurting themselves by taking this stance. Especially since they've done cross-play with PC in the past.

Chances are those games won't boost their numbers even with crossplay. Too few people buy them.

If a game has ten active players on each console, activating crossplay adds 20 more players for everyone. Certainly, that's not going to boost the game into "highly active" territory, but the only way crossplay won't boost the game's numbers is if literally nobody is playing it.

dont be such a bitch that you'd drop a friend just because they went blue instead of green.

Didn't necessarily mean drop them, just that they made poor choices. Besides the fact I don't know people with XB or PC, I'm not playing what anyone else is playing. My last few completions were Statik, Blanc+Neptune vs Zombies, Taiko Master, Uncharted 4, Bleed, Accounting+, and Puyo Puyo Tetris. The last one goes online while the others mostly don't. Not the kind of things you see on a lot of lists.

I would however drop a friend playing CoD, Destiny, or EA Sports. It takes a special class of stupid to support those games.

Console wars? Let's not. I focus on games not hardware and if it has good games then I currently have said platform. Thanks to my years of experience I will offer suggestions on what to play or avoid. I wouldn't beg for crossplay because someone accidentally ended up with XB. I'd just say 'you're on your own, you know where I'll be".

We all agree XB is too far behind to matter. It was a poor idea to use BC in place of fresh content. I argued with many people about that because yes on its own BC isn't a terrible idea. It is a requirement though? No. I keep my old consoles so BC isn't as important. Fast forward to now and everyone is making a bigger deal out of crossplay than it's worth. Unfortunately Sony can be stubborn because of their position.

Had to be sure all traces were gone. You know how malware is - one bit remains and it phones home to reinstall itself. I listed a bunch of checkmarks that identify malware and Steam hits 'em all.

In fact it does. Because it doesn't work offline and knew it wasn't able to phone home to 'update', it shut itself down and blocked me from playing HL2. Don't act like you don't understand. It makes you look stupid. Well, more than before.

I know quite a few people who only have one console from the new generation. My brother did for a while. And my cousin, too. Just because you dont see it often doesnt mean it doesnt happen. Sometimes, people dont have the extra money to spend on consoles. Or they are going through a rough time. They may be able to get a game or two, but they may not have enough for a whole new system. Not everyone has a lot of extra income. Or a lot at once.

Just because we have steam doesnt mean we dont use other systems. Not has Steam done anything bad to me. Also, you must have done something wrong. I can still play my games from Steam offline. I played a couple games in my car on lunch break a few times. You seem to be the only one who Steam has hurt this bad. Everyone is fine with Steam because nothing bad has happened. Even the people who have had a problem with it before seem to be fine with it. You're the only person I hear complaining about it. And I have never seen the things youve complain about. And if something did happen 10 years ago, maybe you should try it out again since its probably very different.
