#19: Millennials vs. Gen X
Average Ranking: 19.00

BCT: 8 - A group of hardcore players that never stopped playing the game on a high level for newbies. Theyre an interesting bunch. The only downside is how the theme was shoved down our throats unnecessarily in lieu of developing many of the cast, which tainted the enjoyability of the narrative. The Million Dollar Gamble and one of the most intimately personal winners ever are among the seasons highlights.

GTM: 14 - (spoilers?) can't wait to see hannah on this next season. good luck, buddy!

Naye745: 14 - a season loaded with great characters and storylines - i'm baffled by the insinuation that this was nothing but gamebots. Good drama sometimes came from poor gameplay, but the drama surrounding the winner was heartfelt and genuine. perhaps not the season for everyone, but i loved it.

darkx: 15 - No writeup

Illuminatus: 17 - No writeup

FBike: 18 - For the third time in Survivor history, the tribes were divided according to age. Had a season like this run early in Survivor's run, the Gen-Xers would have been in the role the Millennials played here.

DoctorBlind: 21 - The editing was pretty solid for the most part, and the cast had its bright spots. Still, Im not sure I can summon much more than a meh here.

eaed: 27 - My dislike for this season, unfortunately, comes down to the success of characters that I absolutely cannot stand in Hannah and Adam. Their confessionals are cringeworthy. Their arrogance is somehow under the radar and over the top at the same time and I am just absolutely annoyed when they are on screen. I know how bad that sounds with everything going on with Adams story. And of all of the other seasons of Survivor, this is the one time where I wish that the new final four twist existed because then Adam wouldnt still be pretending that all of his blunders were on purpose and we would have an amazing winner in David. (And even in his final 3, I dont think Adam is the most deserving. He just pissed more people off than Hannah did). This season I dont have the best logic on. Its mostly gut.

Inviso: 29 - This one is really tough to rank because on paper, its not the worst season ever, and its DEFINITELY been outshone in its badness by several other seasons in the thirties. But its still so emblematic of everything wrong with modern Survivor that its hard for me not to be biased against it. The cast fucking SUCKS. Id say that one of the two tribes has a SINGLE compelling personality on it. The other tribe is BETTER, but its still average when compared to better seasons. This leads to a pre-merge that absolutely drags on until three of my four favorite characters for the entire season all get voted out before the even reaching single-digit placements. In fact, Id say the season starts to go to shit right before the merge, because thats right around the time we get a long string of episodes, from the final fourteen right up until the finale, where the players start their engines and begin making #BigMoves for the sake of big moves. And this backfires almost EVERY single time, yet it keeps fucking happening, and its not even interesting because the show makes no effort to develop relationships that might give weight to the various betrayals. I WILL give credit for the endgame however, because at least the editors built up a strong set of finalists that left me surprised (if not happy) with the winner. Oh, and one other thing that really bugs me about MvGX: everyone was so fucking NICE about everything. Youre playing for a million dollars, and people are flipping back and forth and backstabbing one another almost every episode, yet the only real emotional reaction we see comes PRE-MERGE. I know people hate bitter juries and whatnot, but I want players that are human beings. If Im out on an island, starving for over a month, and you vote me out of a game for a million dollarsbeing so cordial at the end is NOT NORMAL. It makes these people feel, again, like chess pieces rather than actual people. Thats just not fun to watch.

One of my favorite things about this season is the camaraderie among I'll say the final 11. Regardless of what side they were on, they all just seemed like they were having fun playing together. Nowhere is this more evident than Jay's reaction to being blindsided.

We got to know Michele INTIMATELY, since the editors couldn't build her up as a strategic mastermind. If you won't accept her, then you can't really accept Mr. "My Mom Has Cancer and That's the Only Thing Anyone Knows About Me" either.

I'll give you the "interesting bunch" but that's the only thing my write-up for MvX has in common with Kaoh Rong.

Honestly, your write-up barely has anything in common with MvGX, aside from the negatives about the forced theme. The cast wasn't high-level since over half of them were shit players: Rachel, Mari, Paul, Lucy, CeCe, Figgy, Michelle, Taylor, Jessica, Sunday, Bret, Ken, Adam. And that's not including the idiots that made unnecessary big moves just to pad their "resumes" and ultimately put themselves in worse positions because they just had to rack up blindsides: Zeke, Will, Jay, Hannah.

The cast wasn't interesting outside of David, Jay, Hannah, Figgy, Taylor, Michaela and Adam. And Adam isn't "intimately personal" aside from him being given one nugget of information that was hammered into the viewers' minds over and over again. I wouldn't call Jenna Morasca intimately personal either.

Yeah, this is another reason I like it so much. That was missing from the three seasons since. It was a joy to watch them because they were enjoying themselves that much. Debbie stopped playing and that cost her. And yes, the MedEvacs stopped people from playing, because it forced them to. They were thinking about plans but couldn't execute on them.

This is literally not worth replying to because you don't seem to understand my point. THE ENTIRE REMAINING CAST put their lives on the line. How does it get more interesting than that? It's certainly a bigger gamble overall than Scot's and while Scot's blindside is far and away the best moment of Kaoh Rong, the stakes weren't anywhere near as high.

Well here's the thing: you're offering up two statements. One, Million Dollar Gamble was interesting. Two, you like how the cast was nice and enjoying themselves all season long and were bestest buddies at the end. These two statements are contradictory. If the cast played nice and no one was bitter and everyone treated it like just a game, then what reason do I as a viewer have to give a shit about some six-person rock draw?

That's actually the biggest FLAW with MvGX, is how nice everyone was. There are no fucking STAKES to anything, because there's no emotion. It's like when I used to play online poker. I didn't play with real money, just with play chips. And you can refresh your play chips for free every hour if you bust out. So what does it matter if you decide to dick around and shove your whole stack every round? Sometimes you get lucky and score a huge pot. That's what MvGX feels like. Just a bunch of happy-go-lucky dipshits playing Survivor like it's an online ORG.

Blindsiding people just for the sake of causing a blindside and adding items to your "resume" is all this season is, starting from Jay unnecessarily blindsiding Michaela (which takes out a number and leaves his alliance (Michelle and Taylor) stuck holding the bag for the next two rounds.) Then Zeke unnecessarily boots Chris, putting him in a position where he's the new target at ten, which leads to the "Million Dollar Gamble". But who gives a shit? Aside from Michaela (out) and Taylor (out), none of these people seem to care about the game working out against them. And then after the Jessica rock draw, it doesn't even matter because Will flips for resume reasons the very next round and takes out Zeke. Then WILL gets taken out. Then Sunday and Bret go out because Hannah wants to score blindsides. Who CARES? It's just SUCH a soulless season, and even the final tribal council is evidence of this. The fact that Ken was allies with Jessica/David all season long, and Jessica gave Ken her legacy advantage, and David seemed to have no hard feelings towards Ken betraying him...and both of them voted for Adam to be a 10-0-0 winner? Not even pity votes for their friend? Fuck THAT. Adam didn't play well enough to deserve a unanimous victory by ANY stretch of the imagination. Christ, gimme bitterness and emotion over that shit ANY day.

Like the whole Natalie Tenerelli incident that got the "Save My Survivor" contest shut down. Yes, you personally connected with Natalie in the lead-up to Cambodia, but you've been incensed that people (like myself and countless others) actively HATE Natalie Tenerelli based on what we've seen of her in Redemption Island, where she was a mute follower to Rob, who behaved like a catty bitch to multiple people and generally helped contribute to it being a terrible season.

It's not making things personal. It's just pointing out that you tend to skew things a little bit when it comes to the opinions you hold. Holding unique opinions is fine, but you have, in the past, made some false claims on the basis of your opinions. The Morgan episode, for example. You had a vested interest in Morgan's success, and then when she got blindsided, you not only called it mean-spirited (which flies in the face of your MvGX love where everyone just plays nice and blindsides are acceptable), but that it was the worst episode ever, where just objectively, a minority alliance pulling off a 4-3-1 blindside is amazing by any merit.

You just make things so personal and act like your personal opinions are objective facts. At least when I push my opinions, I do try to explain where I'm coming from and why my opinions should hold more water with your average fan. It's like how I point out that people hate Game Changers yet love Cambodia, when the only difference between the two is the cast. I know it's still my opinion, but there are certain things that objectively do not make sense to me, so I try to look at things logically...and then get frustrated when logic isn't applied equally between two similar things.
