Here are a few of the problems I've noticed with Spider-Man PS4 web slinging so far. First, the swinging animation starts before the web attaches and tensions. Second, the web angle and direction doesn't change Spider-Man's trajectory at all. Also, the web doesn't seem to interact with any objects other than its attachment point. Lastly, there's no momentum buildup. It all fades away once the swinging starts.

Game still looks good. I just want Spider-Man 2 web slinging back again.

What the fuck. Why is it so fucking hard to copy and paste the web swinging from 2!? It's really shameful that Spiderman 2 still has the best web swinging.

Spiderman 2 used the same physics engine for its swinging that it did for its ragdoll, it really was awesome

Web of Shadows had better web swinging and acrobatics than 2.

From what Ive heard from people who have actually played the game, the swinging is great.

Ill take that over your inaccurate observations

This was noticeable to me too after seeing the E3 gameplay. I don't know why it's so hard to replicate. What made Spiderman 2 so fun was that you had to work for it. Web slinging was a skill to be honed and used in various situations. Most importantly, it let you make mistakes. That's why it felt so satisfying to make that big leap between buildings using only your momentum, or getting a new record on one of those web slinging courses, or even delivering a damn pizza.

The mediocre reviews will back him up. This game is clearly no Arkham Asylum, in spite of how much it copies from it.

I'm sorry but Spider-Man 2, while still a good game, is so overrated. The Insomniac game looks like it's set up to shit all over it.

That has no bearing on what TC said.

But ok.

It's clear they went for style and smoothness over physics. Which is overall the right decision.

People remember doing their big jumps off the Empire State Building but forget all of those awkward times when they got stuck on a building by accident.

Style over substance is literally never the right decision afaic.

But ok.

He claims the swinging for SM2 is better than a game that, according to the few people that's played it, is saying otherwise.

But ok.

Let's agree to disagree. I would rather not type out a full response to your post. We'll know in a few months if the swinging is actually good or not.

The substance here is in your control over Spider-man and the options you have to traverse. Which seems to be significantly improved over SM2.

Which is way more important for a video game.
