Apparently, out of all those people, one of them got charged with dealing drugs and another got charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Sounds like they just took a good look at everyone to see if they could find something to charge them with?

No idea what the actual motive of the arrest was (playing music in public? Blocking the stairs? idk)

Police can murder you for any reason. This isn't much of a stretch.

Did they get film permits and let the local police know that they were filming?

Dunno but that doesn't seem to be the reason.

I found an article about it. The guy actually sued the city.

http://www.sfweekly.com/news/yung-lott-sues-sfpd-city-over-rap-video-shoot-raid/

The incident, in which Yung Lott and about 20 other black men were detained, searched, and photographed by SFPD while filming a rap video in a park, went viral thanks to video footage that circulated on YouTube. At the time, SFPD claimed that the searches were justified due to the fact that a man with a concealed gun walked into the crowd. SFPD told SF Weekly that officers had the right to search all the other men around the suspect with the gun for officer safety reasons.

But in the suit, Yung Lott and his co-plaintiffs suggest that police, who had already observed the man with the gun, should never have allowed him to walk into the video shoot. Per the Chronicle:

Hmm.

You do know that cops are trained to see the outline of a gun in clothing, right?

Cops have literally said their DUI training is more accurate than a Breathalyzer and drug tests.

So Im going to say their training also allows them to see concealed weapons.

Probably about all they're trained to do these days since they don't seem to be competent at much else.

Maybe they should also get trained to tell the difference between a gun and a cell phone

Maybe people detained by the police should comply and not make sudden moves?

well that's true. Eye nystagmus is a dead giveaway for alcohol or what ever type of drug you're on.

Breathalyzer is apparently not very accurate and there are a lot of pushes to have it removed as acceptable evidence.

I actually have one at home. It's one of those endorsed ones that cost me almost 300 bucks.

I have a major drinking problem, so I always religiously measure my BAC before driving if I know that I drank something during the day.

Anyway, the thing I noticed is, if I drink some alcohol but then I don't eat or drink something after that, then the measurement is way off because I still have some alcohol in my mouth and it just gives a number that's much higher than it should be. But if it's been like an hour or so and my saliva had the time to "wash it off" or something, then the number is more accurate.

So yeah, if I take the test immediately after drinking, the number is not good.

Also, if I just brushed my teeth, sometimes the measurement appears to say that I drank at least a bit because there is some alcohol in mouthwash. But this is only true if I take the test very soon after brushing my teeth. But even then, it's not a high number, at least not enough to put me over the legal limit. And it dissipates quickly.
