Visually this game will never look great because they let the backers vote on key visual elements (shading styles, etc) and they chose the objectively worse designs

But the gameplay looks good enough for me to want this game

We've known this game was gonna be ugly practically since the beginning but it still kills me that they chose this over doing sprites.

Did the backers really choose this 2,5D crappy artstyle?
I always hoped that this might be some placeholder art but realized long ago that no, this is it. Guess I did the same thing with Mighty Number 9. Not even sure if I can even play a game that looks like this.

Looks promising, though I certainly do hope there are more weapon options. I loved how Order of Ecclesia worked in that regard in particular, and hope that this game takes after that. (It kinda seems to in other ways, at least.)

After playing Curse of the Moon I'm happy that this game doesn't seem to share that one's stiff jumping (I know CotM did it as some homage to NES Castlevania or something, but still).

Music sounds great. The graphics don't wow me but nor do I really understand the problem with 2.5D graphics some seem to have; this is kinda the norm for platformers now.

it's not an issue of 2.5, for me at least. It's that this particular example is lifeless and ugly.
