...games nowadays. It's not that I lose interest really. I find myself thinking about playing and finishing the game and about how fun it is, but most of the time I just never do it anymore. I have a decent backlog as of now. When I was younger, I would always complete all my games. Anyone else have this problem as they've gotten older? What games have you been meaning to finish? Top of the list for me right now is Hyrule Warriors, Owlboy, Hollow Knight, and Dragon Quest Builders. All really fun!

I can't even get started lately. Except for helping my kid get by some Lego Star Wars levels, I haven't played a game since the end of April.

I usually give up on games about halfway though.
It's been a problem going on my whole life.

I think it stems from youth where games were just too hard to beat, so I just got used to never seeing endings.

This is not to say that I have never beaten games. But I do normally play competitive multiplayer games.

I'd say I have the opposite problem of only being able to play one game at a time until I finish it. Whenever I do play a few games a time I'll usually tell myself this is kind of nice, but I still go back into doing one at a time.

On the contrary, I rarely beat games when I was a kid, mostly because I simply couldn't get past some parts no matter how hard I tried. But now I do finish a reasonable number of the ones I own.

I had a phase a while back where Id get deep into a game and just quit. No idea why, and I did it with a bunch of games.

I missed out on Chrono Trigger on SNES, so I was playing it on Final Fantasy Chronicles. All I needed to do was fight Lagos, and I just... stopped playing. I have no idea why at the time, and that was the first in the line of many games I just stopped. (Ive since gone back and beaten the game on all endings.)

Mostly it happens to me when I get distracted by another game. I'll get a new game or just suddenly CRAVE a specific game or genre and get into it until I feel like I've... Lost my place in the first game. Like I've just been away too long and can't continue without restarting.

Some games are just way too long, or they have so much side content that I never get around to finishing the main game

That happens to me a lot too. It's like you like the game so much you subconsciously don't want it to end, so you just kinda stop playing so you technically don't get to the end.

I did that with Persona 5. I'm close to the end, and I will finish it, but I'm in no hurry. The wait for the next game will be terrifying after I finish it.

I got just... Tired of Persona 5. Like it was just a bit too long and the last part was there just for length. I ended up rushing it on the lowest difficulty just to be done.

I got like halfway through Majoras Mask on the N64. I finally made it to the last boss on the 3ds version and I haven't finished it or picked it up since then lol

Through a combination of not enough time, too many decent deals (leading to impulse buys), and more money my backlog is big enough to last me until I retire.

That said, I still pre-ordered 2 games after E3. >_<

Honestly I just get bored and start playing another game. Then after awhile I play it again but a lot of times I forget what I was doing or what happened so I start over, done this so many times.

As someone earlier said, I thought it said fishing at first. When I realized it said finishing, I also thought it was about sex, like another poster said. And as some other posters said, I have the opposite problem. I use to have a had time finishingbgames when I was younger. It still goes on a little today, but not as much. Some games, I do sometimes stop because I dont want it to end. But I have been finishing a good amount. That being said, I do finish all Zelda and Mario games I get. And usually games in a series... And othe really good games. Like HZD and stuff.

I'm glad my topic was successful in confusing people in more ways than intended. Anyways, yeah Zelda and Mario games are usually the exception for me. I mostly finish at least the main story for those. I've always been a Nintendo fan.

Nah. I'm one of the rare ones who finishes nearly everything. Not to 100% of course, online grinds are no fun. This is why I'm like 2 years behind in backlog.

It really takes a stinker of a game for me to quit before seeing the credits. No More Heroes (PS3 w/Move) has bad collision detection. Tried Legend of Kay but it was a little too outdated and repetitive. Hotline was one of the worst twin stick shooters I've played. Evil Within looked more like a stealth game but it ended up being Resident Evil 4 with zero ammo. Bloodborne was terrible because there wasn't a boss in the first area and after 3 hours there was no way forward. Farcry 2 I wanted to finish but it didn't work right with my mouse controller and there was just TOO much travel.

That might be all the games I started but didn't finish in the last 2 gens. Do I have more stinkers on my backlog? We'll see.

I just platinumed Kingdom Hearts 1.5

Shit got old after playing through twice. I can't imagine doing the "no equipment" or "no continues" on Proud mode.

Just do what I do and don't start a new game until you're finished the one you're playing. I left a few games unbeaten on the ps2, and I noticed it was becoming a trend, so I just nipped that habit in the butt.

This is what I do, maybe playing 2 games at a time as long as they're different from each other. Part of the blame could be on developers though. Game length is treated as a selling point. I feel there's a limit, after which you're just needlessly stretching a game. While we might grind it through plenty of people hit a point where they get bored and leave. Trust me there's no shortage of games to play. If it's something new to be played online then it makes sense to get in when it's popular. Most of my games are SP (may or may not touch the MP) so I end up years behind everyone else.

I should probably do this. I'll try finishing the one I'm on (Hallow Knight) and then go back to the other ones I was playing.

I can't begin to tell you how many goddamn RPG's I've purchased that I have yet to finish.

I love them, though.

In the end, I guess its ok if you had fun playing it. Even if you didnt finish it...

This is one I'm ashamed to admit I never finished. Had to use a guide from halfway onwards and I gave up on defeating the final boss. Is it even possible to beat it without the final mask? I couldn't bring myself to go after it.

It should be possible. But harder. Personally, I never fight it without the Fierce Diety mask...

Yeah but I don't see it as a bad thing. A lot of the time I'll just feel like I get the picture with a game and be satisfied with that. Mario and Rabbids is a recent example of that. I'm probably 60-70% finished with it but don't really have any interest in finishing it. Really good game, I just don't need to see the story through and I've already spent what feels like enough time enjoying it.

Same! Part of me wants to finish Mario and rabbids but I just haven't done so.

I'm getting better about finishing games lately. I'm going old school and finally getting into Dead Space. I beat it, but I was in the middle of a second playthrough to unlock more upgrades, and just... stopped. I wasn't even stuck or anything.

A lot of times, if a certain level or sequence is more frustrating than it is fun, I'll stop playing the game as a whole because it's not worth the aggravation of struggling through a bad level to unlock more good ones.

I haven't even gotten started on AC Orgins. And God knows how fucking long that will actually take me. The game has been sitting on my shelf since release date. And never touched it yet.. :/

I think dead space is one of the best horrir shooters out there. Interesting story and great gamepplay mechanics
