Yes, as long as it isn't a new Pokemon, new form or it has a new move from USUM. And you can do it anytime after you get the Festival Plaza option, which I think you get at the first Pokemon Center.

Pokemon Sun and Moon was when things got really cinematic.

They do not get exp when they're fainted.

Pokemon Center and Mart have been in same building since Black and White.

Yeah, they are quite streamlined.
Turning off the Exp share does make a few places difficult though.

He knows tackle, metronome, hold back, and happy hour

Happy Hour is good for grinding cash and Hold Back is good for catching Pokemon. He also learns Yawn to help with that.

You get experience for catching Pokemon now too.

Amnesia only boosts special defense (this isn't RBY anymore). Snorlax's special durability is already high enough to deal with pretty much anything. It's not worthless to learn it or anything, especially early on when your movepool options are limited, but in the long run it's not going to contribute very often.

So basically whats happening is me and a friend went halvsies on a 3ds we found for real cheap (20 each) for his little brother

It had a parental lock on it so I took it home and removed it, but discovered the person had Ultra sun on it. They also had their fucking credit card info on here. Jesus >_>. I removed it all don't worry

but anyways, this person was a pokemon fan and had pokemon bank and at least 3 other of the games. However there were at least 10 pokemon still in his bank. So instead of damning them to purgatory for all eternity, I decided to take them since I have Pokemon Sun I received for free from work

but yea, I only progressed 1 minute just to create a save and to get in on the event pokemon.

I'm definitely far enough to where I can trade, I just need to catch some more rattatas.

But along the way, I'm now noticing all of the crazy differences

I'm only super familiar with RB (not even Y)
I DID play platinum and that was a huge jump for me, but none of the new stuff sticked. I can't remember everything from that, so I'm kinda rediscovering that AND experiencing the even newer stuff

In Sun/Moon you could only buy clothes in certain colors. Is this still the case in USUM? Like, if I want to dress in red, do I need to buy US? (And yes, I know there were ways to get the dye shop and change colors, but that was too time consuming imo)

Thanks. In that case, I'll definitely get US this time. Last time, I got Moon since I liked Lunaala's design more, but the only clothes I liked were purple.
