And it's well deserved high praise. Literally the biggest criticism about is too much comedy.

When I saw it in theaters I flat out didn't like it. I found the humor to be way too constant and it was off putting. I like it a lot better on repeat viewings. For some reason, I actually find it funny now. Not sure why, because hated the constant jokes the first time around.

As much as I love the original Guardians, I really hate how it took the MCU down the "every scene must be funny" path. The older MCU movies had humor, yes, but you can definitely see a tonal shift in the franchise as a whole in everything post Guardians

People don't usually mention it, but it perhaps has the best OST for a Marvel movie and that helps it a lot.

Thor 3 is the best of the Thor films and it is a good MCU film.

Once you accept the fact that it's basically a comedy, it turns into a very fun and visually excellent movie and it made me love Thor's character.

The only "funny" one was Ragnarok and it's easily one of the best MCU movies.

I wish the whole movie took place on Jeff Goldblum planet. The Asgard stuff was boring by comparison.

No, I kind of feel the same way. TLJ was bad about this too ("Holding for General Hux", two minutes into the movie). There's just an unusually high amount of humor and wisecracking, from characters and situations that don't seem to call for it.

This. In a lot of Marvel movies they try to make the heroes quip masters even if it doesn't fit the tone of the character or scene.

You do know in real combat humor is used to relieve or lessen a stressful situation, MCU seems to be using the same logic in my book.

Hell Sam Raimi's Spider-Man had it too.

Even some in the old XMen movies. GOTG did not start the trend.

However. That shit does not belong in a Star Wars movie at all. TLJ was trash.

Just finished it. Overall I thought it was a fun movie, but I do have a few thoughts.

First of all I thought the entire plot involving Hela was not needed. I found Jeff Goldblum to be a way more interesting villain than generic Goddess of Death and if the movie had been completely about defeating him and escaping Sacaar I think it would have been better overall. Once they escaped I felt like the movie kinda dropped off.

This is more of just a nitpick/personal thought but I think the fact that the movie used "Immigrant Song" in the first five minutes kinda lessened the impact of it in the final battle. As a song to go along with Thor awakening his super saiyan form it was cool, but using it in a battle against generic mooks in the beginning kinda took away from it imo. Once again, just a nitpick.

And of course the humor is a bit much. When it lands it definitely lands, but I think the writers thought most of these jokes would have me rolling on the floor when really the only things rolling were my eyes. Like I said, the good jokes were really good, but there's a lot of cringe in there too. That bit in the beginning where Thor is hanging from the chains and quipping about how he keeps getting turned around wasn't funny in the slightest and made me worried that I was in for another TLJ.

This movie probably had some of the best action scenes in the entire MCU. The Thor vs Hulk fight was fucking awesome and the part at the end where he goes full lightning mode and just starts wrecking house was great. It feels like after 2 Thor and 2 Avengers movies we finally get to see Thor throw down with his full power.

And as someone else said that score was really good. It reminded me of Tron, which doesn't sound like it would fit at all with a Thor movie and yet it really works.

So yeah, overall I enjoyed it. Now the only MCU movie I haven't seen is Black Panther. Maybe if it hits Netflix or HBO or something I'll check it out. Yes I've already seen Infinity War (and I wasn't a fan)
