You know, this song and the next song have one thing in common, and I kind of want to tell you why both place this low and how that happens... when the next song is posted. I will say that this song fits Papyrus's antics really well and is a goofy and likeable song. You should note that I'm truly in songs that I like, it's just minor reasons drop them below other songs that I like. But you'll hear the reason it's not as good as others in the next song.

A great regular battle theme, my only problem with it is... well, the song loops well, but the way it loops gives such an unsatisfactory way to end the song. I've always hated this in BGM, I'd vastly prefer to hear the song end if it's in the OST, rather than see it prepped for the loop. That's also a thing in my previous song, if a song ends without a closing, I will tend to rate it poorly.

After Start Menu fell like 35 spots ago, I mentioned kind of disliking 8-bit melodies and different things, that's not always the case, obviously I don't hate every NES, GBA, etc soundtrack. This one is a lovely tune. It doesn't completely appeal to me, but I still like it.

Oh... I forgot to mention. One thing funny about Hotel's elimination. Its track number in the OST is 54. It's the closest so far in ranking/track number. Wonder if anything will be spot on. This next one won't.

There's a lot of meaning in this simple song, it's a fairly cool melody that fits well with... well, someone else's Determination. It opens such a cool scene, and was even moved up my list a few times when I realized what it was. It's a tough song to drop, but that's basically everything currently.

Undyne has a lot of songs surrounding her, her battle songs are very Touhou-esque, she has the tense music of like meeting her in full armor and being chased by her, and the heroic intro that's already fallen. As obvious, this is her weakest battle theme and to me... it's simply because the intro before this fight is just so much better than the music to this fight. It's still good, but it's shallow compared to some other songs.

Kind of just a credits thing again, it's really good, but just straight up reusing Hopes and Dreams, and then a piano part that while wonderful... doesn't completely fit with the rest of the soundtrack. It has to rank somewhere, and here it goes.

Been on vacation so I haven't been checking this topic much, but I'm also not the biggest fan of Heartache compared to some of the other songs in the game. I'd probably rate it pretty similarly.

A bit more upset at Spear of Justice, but that's also not my favorite song in the game or anything. Would probably finish in the 20-30 range or something if I made a list? idk.

The best of the spook songs, it actually feels good to play this song in the game and lie down and feel like garbage. Also to just sit around outside Napstablook's house. The reverberation just works to echo through the entire area and it's a cool song.

Over halfway through this list, we see the first larger area theme fall. The melody is a little... eh, but the theme overall is fairly good. Electronic, and definitely has the feel of a last dungeon sort of thing, pushing you to beat the game.

Funny story. I actually started to play Genocide run and made it all the way to Sans before just choosing not to beat the game, and I remember coming to this fight like AH YEAH THIS IS AWESOME BATTLE MUSIC. And then listening to it for this ranking I realized it's just a more machine version of the intro to Battle Against a True Hero. Still a good song, but not as hype as it was during that fight. Also sad that it wasn't a real fight.

Not the best Game Over theme, but really fits with the game. It's a game over theme that's made to instill you with the confidence and want to continue to play. Granted, that doesn't happen as much when you die to the same enemy or boss like 4+ times, but still! If you don't, then there's no reason to hate the song, ahaha~

The melody kicking in past 30 seconds is really cute. Alphys herself? Honestly was pretty damn annoying because of the Hotland segment. That said, it possibly went over my head as thinking about it, and having watched LPs of three Metal Gear Solid games... I'm pretty sure it was making fun of things from those games (plus Metal Gear). Uh... I went off complaining minorly about Alphys antics as I have not much to say about the song. Welp.

I kinda get the hate over Alphys since the Hotland segment does its job and her dark secret is a thing, but, I found her pretty ok. Not the best character in the game, but certainly not a bad one.

Alphys did exactly what her character was meant to do. Shes not supposed to be super likable shes a mess, and the game doesnt shy away from it. Shes supposed to be a reference to Otacon, but in more millennial fashion, complete with zero confidence and massive social anxiety. Plus a heavy and justified feeling of guilt.

Her relationship with Undyne is cute as hell though.

A slow piece with not much music to it, but a calming and powerful piece at the same time. The first moment you hear it in the soundtrack you know it's Sans judging you for everything you've done during the playthrough and it's such a good scene. It's not the only scene, which is also a bonus for this song, but that one is the most impactful to me. More so than the Asgore spare or defeat.

Frankly, what elevates sans's part over Asgore's in terms of this music is those damn bells beforehand. Even hearing them a thousand times in Let's Plays has never tempted how impactful and chilling those knells are.

Sorry, couldn't help myself there. One strength the Undertale has overall, is just how many instruments are mixed in with everything. Here we have the first instance on an electric guitar (I think, prove me wrong if you must) for an intro to the final time we fight Mettaton, and seeing his true form. I can't hear this song without that thing I posted first though. That's not a problem.

Undertale's music does such a good job enhancing the scenes it's in usually, that's just eight notes but it works so well.

Mettaton's true form reveal and the fight after might be my favorite part of the game, that or Genocide Undyne.

Dark song, some tension... it fits well for when you're seeing Undyne in full armor. Entertainingly... it gives me a Metroid feel, which is kind of like Undyne giving a Samus feel being gender ambiguous until she's fully out of the armor and it's actually revealed. Her theme isn't exactly *spooky* but it definitely sets the new tone after Snowdin.
