Literally what the fuck

Like I was actually in his office when she rolled up to ring the doorbell, so I went out to let her in and let her have a seat on the couches.

Part of me felt a little bad since my boss and I were actually talking about work-related stuff and she was stuck out there for like 20+ minutes, but still, this is pretty much her fault for showing up that fucking early.

I mean sure maybe the drive was shorter than expected, but I'd just sit in the car for 15 minutes. Like when we she was rolling up to the door, I was like 'shes a little early, huh' and he's like 'way early' with this sneer on his face because he was actually like working on some circuit board or some weird shit while we were talking

tl;dr to anyone interviewing: Don't show up 28 minutes early for an interview. Show up like, 5 minutes early. 10 at the absolute tops.

I figured the person wanted to show that they had good work ethics, because god knows how many times at my work place people always calling one another to clock them in for them because they're coming late.

I'd never try to attend an interview with only 5 minutes to spare. Usually plan to have at least 20ish, never know what traffic may be like on the way etc.

And if a prospective employer is going to have a fit because you arrived early, then they sound like they would be shit to work for anyway.

Same. Like TC said, sometimes I will get there 30 minutes early and sit in my car for a while. Maybe she took the bus, though.

Yeah I mean this is a full-time salaried position so obviously none of that would be happening, but there's a line. I think she crossed it.

THAT SAID, at 11:08, I went back to his office after stealth-seeing she was still out there (couches are near the bathrooms), so I went into his office like "uh do you want me to get her or something?" and he goes 'this is like you hounding me for the $2 i lost to you in the foosball bet; ask for it too quickly and you'll take longer to get it; she shows up 20 minutes early, she's getting an interview 20 minutes late.'

I want to say he's exaggerating, but as of 11:08 when this conversation happened, she was still out on the couches. He might deadass be planning on waiting until 11:28.

Tappor posted...

Yes, but to a certain point. She was 28 minutes early. I have nothing against arriving early in terms of like being in the parking lot (as another poster mentioned, traffic or other circumstances can happen), but showing up that early is too much.

I'd sit in the car until maybe 1050.

no she drove. we saw her pull up.

but yeah it'd be different if she took the bus because yeah you'd have nowhere to sit for a while

I wouldn't judge her too harshly but as someone who interviews people and has had this happen, yeah, it's annoying. 10 minutes early or something shows good work ethic. More than that is interrupting.

Hopefully she gets a job elsewhere and doesn't have to suffer the company of people with such backwards thinking.

If she is just sitting in a waiting room or whatever, so what? Not like she's disturbing anything that way.

Lol don't mistake me for my boss, I'm not at all defending him. I of course would never make her fucking wait 28 minutes because she showed up 28 minutes early. I'm just saying she's way early. If it was me and I was actually working at 10:32 when she showed up, then yeah I might not want to be interrupted until closer to the actual time.

Hell I'd probably say let's just get started given how little we actually work around here.

That's fair then tbh.

And yeah, if someone does arrive that early, you should be under no obligation to see them until the arranged time. But I think people are fully aware of that, but want to be early for a whole variety of reasons.

I concur, that's a pretty good set of standards for her to arrive early and wait patiently.

Would you rather she be barely on time, late, or not show up?

Being early & waiting isn't a bad thing.
