Well, Im assuming whoever wrote that wanted you to take the derivative of the numerator, simplify that, simplify the denominator, and then cancel out stuff, then solve for x, but not only is the derivative written wrong, you cant really solve for x since there is only one equation and two unknowns, (x and Pin).

Even if you were taking the derivative of the numerator then finding the roots it would still make no sense.
