They first released the trailer in June 2016....2 whole years ago. And now they set the release for February 2019...even more waiting. Why such an incredibly long buildup? Feels like it's being hyped up to be a huge innovative event, when it looks like just another game.

They want us to be excited and go crazy for it, but I'm not...it's basically the Roman Reigns of video games.

I feel like games really need to work harder to earn this sort of hype.

A lot of the reason Sony is hyping it is simply because it's a first party title by the studio who made the Syphon Filter games and their first new IP since then which was what, 20 years ago?
Seems like being from them it'll be an action stealth game where stealth is actually a viable option to choose, seems technically impressive based on the number of enemies on screen, the dynamic conditions that affect things, etc.

Don't think it'll be some ground breaking game, but I also don't think most people are expecting that. Sony has just been pushing it hard since it's a first party title by a developer they haven't really utilized like they could. Game was in full production at the end of 2014 iirc so by then it'll be a 4+ year straight full production cycle. They've likely put a lot of money in it and expect it to do well.

I'm sure it'll be a good game, I'm more bummed we're not getting a Syphon Filter.
Pretty much all the old action stealth franchises are dead except maybe Splinter Cell, but who knows when we'll see another one. I'd rather have Syphon Filter then a zombie game.

I don't know anyone who is actually interested in this game, it looks so dull. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the first Sony bomb in awhile.

Also, on that note, fuck companies that announce a game, only to release it 23 years later. This is a trend that has got to stop. I know Capcom gets a lot of deserving flack for handling shit like DLC wrong, but if there is one thing that EVERY company needs to start doing like them, is the way they announce games. They have been announcing all of their games at least a year prior to release (with the exception of REmake 2, which was a different scenario where it needed to be announced before the game was in pre-production).

I don't feel like it's being hyped at all. It being pushed back to February will probably mean it'll have a quieter release. At least at the moment, it doesn't look like it'll have much to compete with. It'll probably be solid but nothing groundbreaking.

I love how the director of Days Gone got sick of people comparing this game to The Last of Us. Maybe Sony shouldnt have green lit another zombie game exclusive for PlayStation.

I dunno... it looks like it might turn out to be a good game. I haven't made a decision on it one way or another. I do get a little anxious whenever it shows up at the press conference though, because it chews up so much time and I don't really care to see more until it's ready to come out.

I saw the first trailer, I'm sure there was probably another one last year at E3 I'm forgetting, but then the only other thing I saw was the Game Informer stuff.
