I really liked it. Most of the fun came from thinking about this scenario actually happening and how people would react.

Movie made no sense. If there was supposed to be some big "aha" moment I must have missed it.

Same exact thing happened to me. Then I woke up at the end and my wife was all "that was amazing!" and I was like "fuck, I'm gonna have to rewatch it now."

-Amy Adams is a linguist that keeps recapping her daughter's death.
-Aliens show up.
-Amy Adams gets recruited to learn their language.
-At some point, the aliens says something crypic like "use weapon" or "offer weapon" and this divides people on what it meant.
-Some soldiers go rouge and try to hurt the aliens.
-Amy Adams meets the aliens and one explains to her that the "weapon" they're referring to is the ability to see into the past and the future. Something that's gifted to someone that can decipher their language, as they'll need humanity's help in 3,000 years.
-This is why she keeps seeing the girl that's suppose to be her daughter because it's a premonition.
-Using this knowledge, she convinces the rest of the world not to go to war with the aliens.
-She have a baby with Jeremy Renner even though she knows the kid will die and he will leave her.

Wasn't that hard to keep up with.

That movie just reaffirmed my belief that there is zero chance of humanity working toward a positive outcome if an alien species were to come to Earth for any reason. The most unbelievable part of the movie was that we didn't all end up annihilated from nuclear chaos at the end.

Basically. I kept thinking back to District 9 as well and kept thinking how accurate of a picture they're trying to paint with how something like this would potentially go down.
