Its this week... cant wait for the best weekend of the year

Got a crew of four heading down from Wisconsinmy buddy (whos gone with me the past five years), my girlfriend, and some guy we dont know very well

Should be great times, lots of great acts to see this year and tons of awesome non-music stuff this year

I actually think the line up is pretty disappointing vs last year (this is only my second time). Comedy tent line up is kind of garbage too, but last year they had a lot of cancellations that made the stated line up appear better than what we actually got so eh

what am I missing?

I guess it depends what youre going for

For me this is easily the best lineup since 2015 (although with somewhat boring headliners). Most of this is due to how much, particularly last year, they focused on acts that appeal to younger audiences, and lost a lot of what made Roo unique among music festivals.

Were all in our late 20s/early 30s, so there is a lot more weve grown up with. Like, last year other than U2 and RHCP the number of acts around longer than ten years was in the single digits. And theres stuff like Chic, Amadou & Miriam, and Noura Mint Semali that arent super common bookings

I just think they're fuckin up with their more restrictive policies this year. Two pocket bag limits and no water over 1L... I think that kind of stuff is how Wakarusa ended up dying tbh

I'm def looking forward to it still don't get me wrong

Fwiw I read theyre expecting 75-80,000 people this year which would be 15-20,000 more than last year and 30-35,000 more than 2016 so I dont think theyre in danger of dying

The bag thing is stupid but its all volunteers so Im not concerned theyll be too strict on it plus they already loosened up camelback restrictions after backlash

I saw the line up and wasn't all that excited. Then I saw Janelle Monae was performing at Austin City Limits and I was totally about to buy tickets to her Atlanta concert anyway, so I did that instead.
