Imagine making Blue Eyes White Dragon a common in the next set. Imagine Kaiba's life when his dragon's not special anymore. Sure, it was a great card when you could just lay 'em down without sacrifices, but 2sac for a normal summoned brick with no effects? Lol what, no, Kaiba why do you even use this card

Fortuitously for Kaiba, Pegasus started churning out cards to supplement the Blue Eyes (specifically) and the Dark Magician (specifically) to make them not suck. Dark Magician was an even worse deal for 2sac, especially when there's Summoned Skull.

Blue-Eyes remains the only 3000 ATK normal monster

Many cards like Paladin of White Dragon were probably 'real' ie the Egyptians harvested them first and the card was probably already printed before Kaiba became obsessed with a card game for children

100% non-Egyptian stuff only comes late DM/pre-GX. When Pegasus runs out of material, he is forced to hire actual card designers, like Aster Phoenix's dad and Chuffley.
