Not going to lie, I sometimes find myself reading them. Especially when I'm super busy and still want to read something, I'll pick up a YA novel and read it.

They tend to be light and fun, which isn't always a bad thing.

Nah. The only ones I remember reading in the last decade are Hunger Games and Harry Potter, if those count. I mostly read non-fiction these days.

Atomic Accidents by James Mahaffey is a pretty good layman's read of, well, nuclear accidents. Absolutely fascinating.

About halfway through Glenn Greenwald's With Liberty and Justice for Some. Good read, but too depressing for bedtime reading. Greenwald's No Place to Hide was the best account I've read/watched of the Snowden affair as well, but that's to be expected, since he was directly involved.

I don't reject it outright but a lot of books in the genre seem to use the label as an excuse to not try very hard. Same with kid's movies - a lot of people disregard complaints because it's meant for kids, but that doesn't mean the film can't try.

Went back recently and read the Old Kingdom series. I had read Sabriel in my youth and started Lirael, but put it down for some reason. I somewhat regret giving them another shot.
