So, in the USA, leaving such items on the street is fine?

You don't think that the cops just picked those up off the street, do you? Like, you know that they raided an apartment building without a warrant and literally stole those out of people's homes?

Yeah but their complaints are "why hasn't the government banned knives yet?"

America has those kinds of people too.

Our countries aren't that different in this regard, and we both have people who want the government to clamp down more.

But the USA is the country that recognized that people will demand such, so literally wrote it into law that the government cannot do that.

But British people think we're stupid for doing that.

Sounds disgusting and more than just taking litter off the streets.

The knives you aren't allowed to carry are things like switch blades etc.

No issues with those being taken away tbh - if you've bought a knife from a store you aren't going to have any issue. Nor are you if you need one for work and are taking it too and from.

And yeah, they are doing a lot more than just picking up litter/tossed tools. But the tweet posted earlier seemed to have been just doing that.

No it doesn't. "Off the streets" isn't necessarily a literal term.

During phase six of Operation Sceptre in October 2016 we conducted the highest number of anti knife-crime activities on London boroughs since the initiative was launched and as a result took 399 weapons off the streets, the highest number since Sceptre began.

In total we have conducted 5791 Weapon Sweeps and 700 Test Purchase operations in shops that sell knives. A total of 4565 stop and searches were conducted during those six weeks resulting in 793 arrests [from stop and search alone].

The operation has resulted in a total of 2294 arrests, 473 of which were for possession of a knife or weapon and the recovery and removal of 1435 weapons from the streets of London.

Yeah, the tweet says near a house. Nothing to do with the phrase you bolded. They found those specific items on a street, not on the streets. Weirdo

Also no mention of entering anyones house without permission.

Suppose you Yanks would have shot the police if they tried to come near your homes. Unless black of course, cos then youd already be getting shot up by some angry uneducated police, eh?

Cheaper, and only 'better' depending on how you rate it. There are many drugs and treatment options you are legally barred from just due to cost. Also, if you have a life-threatening illness, they will let you die without treatment and legally bar you from seeking treatment elsewhere.

While I agree that this is a rather problematic state for the UK to be in, I can't exactly make the argument that the UK is in any way "worse" than the US because that would be subjective. The US, for example, would be a lot worse for the lower class to live in for obvious reasons.

Not true at all. The NHS will not fund them, but no drugs or treatment are banned due to being too expensive.

Also, if you have a life-threatening illness, they will let you die without treatment and legally bar you from seeking treatment elsewhere.

Only if you can't consent, and doctors can show no treatment will save your life, and will only make your quality of life worse.
