Why would I want to message someone on LinkedIn? About the only thing that site is good for is getting job offers and I am not looking to hire anyone.

Yeah Linkedin isn't exactly a Facebook, it's probably the most professional version of it there is. If you can message anybody there then you can bet CEOs would get spamed all the time.
