Poll of the Day > Here's an odd thing I thought of. Let's say you have a digital storage device...

...that has a constantly growing data cap. But let's say the only thing you can upload to it are your own memories. You gotta, I dunno, put your finger in a hole on the device or something. Would you upload your memories to it?

You can pull the data off of it and make videos or pictures if you want. And it's constantly growing because whenever you get new memories you want to upload to it, that means it needs to have more space.

Just to add to the base question since this is a "magical" storage device.

How about if...

It was able to upload memories that you can't even remember or are "fuzzy" memories?

It was able to only be viewed by you?

It was able to extract the memories without you needing to actually touch it in any way? "Wireless"

It was also able to extract memories of things like your dreams while you have them or dreams you've had before?

One downside I can think of in the original thought is that it's a physical device so some could steal it and then they would have access to all of the memories you have stored on there. And that's a downside because this device stores ALL your memories, good and bad.

Be creative with any other downsides that can be thought up.

People have a device implanted that records everything they see. After they die someone pulls it out and goes through it all to cut together a neat little film to show about their life. But of course all of the horribly depraved shit that people do gets cut out and only the "aww" stuff makes it into their movies. It was a good movie.

That sounds interesting. It seems like something I wouldn't want to do though. Cause you'd see all the bad things people that are close to you have done. You'd also have to watch way too much footage to find all the good parts.

Of course people have their own dreams. But that doesn't mean they can recall them or that they would have access to a device that records their memories and dreams. And yeah, most people wouldn't buy the dreams, but I bet almost all of the people who actually want to see that celeb doing sex stuff would buy it or find a way to view it.

Well, they probably only have a few of the closest members go through it. And usually, the closer family members and friends might remember when certain things happened. And you can probably find it by date. Also, in that case, you could always keep a journal or when the good things happened. That would work...

Well, they probably only have a few of the closest members go through it. And usually, the closer family members and friends might remember when certain things happened. Actually, it's typically done by a professional. It's their job to go through all this stuff and make the movies. A main theme of the movie is how the guy handles seeing the horrible stuff these people have done and still put out a sweet movie about them. How he deals with the disgusting things he has seen these people do. Watching stuff like a man rape his little daughter night after night.

With all of those conditions, I'm not sure why people would say no. Assuming that the original memories are intact (ie, you don't lose them from your mind when using the device) and you're the only one who can view them, it seems like a no-brainer. It would be even better if you could selectively allow others to view memories or, even better, selected memories.

Those aren't conditions, they are "how about if" add-ons. So you take the original idea, and if you say no to that one, throw one or more of these on there until you get to a point where you'd be ok with it.

Or, make up your own "how about if" that you can think of.
