I went to 7 NY Comic Cons. I like going on both weekend days. Sunday usually has nothing too major and many of the guests are gone by then. Never went on a Friday though.

I believe it is accurate to call NYCC a "choke" of people. Javitts is a lousy place for a con and NYCC proves it in spades.

Beyond that, the con is:

- An expo floor with the main exhibits: vendors, game companies, pop culture stuff
- A bunch of panels, usually some pretty major announcements.
- Signings with famous people.
- An artist's alley.
- Cosplay at a rate of about 10%, ranging from Level 1 (Naruto headbands) to I'd say up to about Level 8 on the typical.

Some cons have games or social activities or acts, but NYCC, in my experience, does not. Pretty corporate.

The three times I went was all the entire weekend, and to be honest I was usually "done" midway through Saturday (having attended on Friday). Haven't really made a serious effort to go in a while, despite living in the Boston area.

I'm excited for my first con. Mine will be in Denver. Chose to volunteer so I can enjoy the day free when I'm done.
