I wanted to stay here for three years to qualify for a project management professional exam though.

I'd have 9.5 months remaining but I don't know if I can last that long.

God I am legitimately depressed at this job and I don't remember feeling nearly this bad at any of my other jobs.

Get another job to finish up that 9.5 months. You'll also have the added experience from working in a different environment. There's no guarantee that you'll pass the exam when you qualify and there's no reason to torture yourself in a job that awful.

If you don't like your job, I'll gladly take it. I lost my job (and career) to illness. I was a furniture mover. Say what you want, but I loved it. I was good at it, too. Now I stay at home watching my two babies 11 hours a day. I love my children, but this shit is making me bonkers. Being disabled, a felon, and living in a small town (that I'm not native to) is basically three strikes.

I'm actually getting project management experience which would lead to certification, and it is definitely the route I want. I'm just mostly disillusioned by the concept of working 40-50 hours a week anywhere, I feel that the likelihood of finding a job with a good salary that doesn't leave me depressed is low, I will always be unhappy.

to be honest, a job with a good (depending on your definition of good) salary is unlikely to be less than 40-50 hours

i sure as hell have never worked less than 50 hours in a week in my life when not on vacation, but i also really love my job and it pays decently. it also doesn't really feel like work - if i didn't have a job i'd still be doing what i do on my own

i think the secret is finding something that doesn't feel like work. i suppose this isn't achievable for everyone - but it certainly makes life more bearable if you get so lucky!

i worked with traders who killed themselves because they lost a lot of money in one year and felt like their career was over
