I was in 3rd grade and I was late for school and my mom was going to drive me. She got a call in the kitchen from a girlfriend who said the World Trade Center got hit. Which my mom repeated in a questioning voice then she came in and turned on the news. Then I remember watching the second plane approach and hitting the south tower.

I was in 3rd grade; I would have been at the bus stop when it happened. My teacher never told us about it, but I remember having a fire drill and the gym teacher mentioning something about a tragedy. I thought some kid had fallen down the stairs or something.

I didn't find out about it until I went home and news was on WB instead of Pokemon

Watching a movie in US History sophomore year. The vice principal was going around telling everyone in the classes. He knocked on the door, and the teacher just waved at him. He did it again, and he still waved and didn't get the door, and then he just walked away.

Didn't know about it until we got to the next class.

Was in 8th grade, first class of the day. Someone came in to talk to the teacher and he looked really freaked out and turned the TV on. We sat there watching what happened for the rest of the class. My mom checked me and my brothers out of school because there was a concern that all major cities may be in line to be attacked.

My brother got Front Mission 3 for his birthday the day before, so I played sick to stay home and play it all day because that game looked legit.

Needless to say very little of that game got played and I watched the whole thing live on TV.

I was with my mom crying because my dad was in the air and we couldn't get ahold of him until later that afternoon.

I remember watching the news that morning which was weird because I was a kid and never watched the news. I went upstairs to tell my mom what happened thinking I was so mature and not realizing how big a deal it was (I actually think I assumed it was an accident). Then I found my mom bawling and she told me it was on purpose and then remembering my dad was on a business trip and we couldn't get a hold of him and then spending the majority of the day feeling helpless and terrified. I don't think I've ever felt so terrified.

Sitting in a hospital room, watching my grandmother die. The nurses flipped out and turned on the news in all the patient's rooms. Because that's what people who are either dying, fighting to survive, or in tremendous pain need to see, a terrorist attack. Stupid fucking whores.

My cousin worked in one of the towers, so my family kind of lost their tits for a while. Turns out she wasn't working that day, but we didn't find out until that night.

Not the best day.

I was active duty, in the United States Army. I was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, awaiting orders to be transferred to an infantry unit. I had broken my leg the previous May, in a cast from my toes to my hip.

I was sitting outside the Company Commander's office, I had a meeting with him that morning. A sergeant, one of my instructors, came running towards me screaming gibberish about planes and war, handed me an M16 and two magazines and told me not to leave that spot, that I was to defend the company office, and to await further orders.

I waited in that spot as other soldiers began to congregate in this area, when that same instructor came back, divided us into shifts, armed us assigned us to our posts. I drew second shift, so I went back to the barracks area, I went into the common room, just as the first tower fell. I immediately turned back around, walked out of the room, located a hacksaw, and started removing my cast. Once it was removed, I threw my crutches away, along with the pieces of my cast. I then attempted to go running, because I wasn't about to let this go without a fight. I would have to be able to run in order to be fit to go into combat.

I was threatened with Article 15 or possible court-martial for destruction of government property because of this act. I gave in, allow them to put the cast back on, and was discharged the following March.

Everyone was going back to school, but it was my first year post-graduation. I was just laying in bed at home until my mom called me down stairs and told me. Then one of my buddies called and told me to come over, so I did

Latter in the day, when I wasn't with him, he threw a rock at a car that had something anti-American on it, but I don't think it was really anti-American. I wasn't there, though

It was 8th grade, I remember standing at the bus stop and this kid told me what he saw on the news and he was pointing at the date on his watch and I was like "it's just a dumb coincidence". And we watched the news in the morning and I was like "that has to be a terrorist attack there's no way so many planes could crash accidentally into buildings like that".

I just remember that that's basically all we did in art class. I don't remember what else we did.

My mom was freaked out crying because my brother was in the Army and she was saying he would have to deploy, which he wound up doing, twice.
