Artian weapons were a terrible idea. I think it would have made more sense to be able to augment the actual crafted weapons like in World's endgame. At least the inclusion of layered weapons makes crafting weapons still worth doing, but you know the system is heavily flawed when Artian weapons are the best in slot for essentially every weapon type in the game.
There is of course the issue of some weapons not having a ton of options for certain elements or statuses. But I think they could have resolved that in some other way without resorting to Artian weapons for that.
