Admittedly my expectations were basically zip

But still I had a lot of fun. More than I ever expected to.

The ending act kind of dragged but after all the production issues I'm surprised it wasn't even worse.

I fully expected to never buy Alden as Han but by the end it was pretty fully believable. Surprised me for sure.

Havent seen it, but pleasantly surprised by the reviews. Thought the best that could be hoped for was a fun summer blockbuster, and it seems they pulled that off

Yes, in the least expected way.

Oh it pulls off the fun summer blockbuster very well in my opinion.

If you don't go in with all these extreme expectations. Which is where a fuck ton of people are going to fuck up.

It's not that "oh you'll have a good time if you expect nothing" it's more you shouldn't expect to be reliving ANH or Empire.

The weakest bits to me were Emilia Clarke and Vision.

I hear the SJW droid is really annoying.

It was present enough to be noticed but disappears soon enough that I forgot about it til you mentioned it

I've heard from people who have seen it that it would have been a good movie had it not had the Star Wars label. Accurate?

Having a Star Wars label doesn't somehow make it a bad movie. or even necessarily a bad Star Wars movie.

People just have, for whatever reason, these insane unreachable expectations out of a Star Wars movie.

Now, what you could have done, is named this anything other than Star Wars, redid the familiar designs and face, and had what most would have considered a pretty good standalone sci-fi film.

Which it is. And is how I'm judging it. Calling it Star Wars doesn't make it a worse film for me. It hampers itself by being called Star Wars because people will go in expecting one thing and be disappointed because "MUH CHILDHOOD REEEEEE"

That's what I meant, yeah. As in a person who knows jack about Star Wars could watch it and think it was a great movie because the SW standards weren't there.

i think a person who knows jack might not buy into it as much because some of the inherent draws like "oh shit son they're about to get the Falcon" wouldn't be there but for the most part yeah.

but I've never been one for "SW standards" I thoroughly enjoyed and still enjoy the prequels. I've read some of the Disney books like Aftermath and had fun. maybe I'm just weird but I just don't get the concept that adding the name Star Wars will literally ruin a Star Wars fan experience of something. TLJ debacle I can see to a degree but lately it feels like the only thing toxic to Star Wars is the "fans"

does lando fuck the droid

that's a negative ghost rider

though the droid does reference that she thinks he wants to (at least get a relationship) but then says "It'd never work"

Obviously it's star wars so they'd never explicitly say exactly what she meant by "it'd never work" so take what you will
