What would be the appropriate amount of time from announcement to deadline for this project? I'm thinking 2 or 3 weeks to allow for write-ups? It's different from doing a selection of films because one, most people here have seen every season, and two, those who haven't simply wouldn't be able to catch up in a reasonable amount of time.

About three weeks should be fine. I'd probably allow a "Not Ranked" option for the few of us who aren't familiar with every season or don't want to rank Borneo - I recall the ranking of Borneo being a bit of a problem four years ago.

About three weeks should be fine. I'd probably allow a "Not Ranked" option for the few of us who aren't familiar with every season or don't want to rank Borneo - I recall the ranking of Borneo being a bit of a problem four years ago.

I've never been a fan of this idea. With a small pool of items and participants it really messes things up. It's one thing to do this with a pool of 250 games and half of Board 8 participating, but with 15-20 of us ranking 36 things, l'd honestly rather extend the deadline to 2 or even 3 months and let those who think they can bingewatch what they haven't seen try to do so.

Also, people have said since the beginning of time that Borneo is difficult to judge among all the other seasons, but continue to do so. I don't think anybody actually tried to refuse to rank Borneo last time.

You know something while it was good survivor I would say 33 feels very much like survivor. The seasons to me that feel the most different is 34 on.

AFAIK, the only person to ever attempt "refusal to rank" was myself, but I wanted to put that rule in place just in case we had another such situation. But if no one likes the idea, then there's no reason to put it in.

So apparently the spoilers were correct right up until the very end... two separate spoilers with a history of correct spoilers (this season's primary spoiler AND the Game Changers spoiler) both said that there would be a tie for the jury vote but that Domenick won. Obviously they didn't know and just deduced that he was the winner from the edit, so, good job Laurel on being the only person in the history of Survivor to unilaterally know who won and actually keeping your mouth shut about it.

A lot of times in Survivor, or at least in recent seasons, the players that the editors paint as "good people" are actually arrogant and self-righteous, and it's just by virtue of being the chosen ones that they're painted as "good people" at all. But you watch Guatemala and the NuYaxha tribe...they are GENUINELY good people. And having to watch a struggling Amy, fighting through the pain of multiple ankle sprains, go out just shy of the merge was rough. Follow that up with NuNakum being utter dicks to NuYaxha and targeting Brandon, who couldn't really do anything to save himself. It's hard to watch.

The Guatemala idol didn't do much (merely flipping two people's placements), but its impact on the modern game is quite large.

And don't forget, a version of it returned from Micronesia through Tocantins.

In Micronesia, Gabon, and Tocantins, one player per tribe was offered a HII that could be played similarly to Gary's, but was restricted to the first time their tribe went to Tribal.

However, there was only one instance where the person who played it might have been voted out that night, and they didn't even come into play in Tocantins.

I'm watching the final 7 of Guatemala now. Cindy...pretty much makes her coconut chop choices based entirely on what she believes the boot order will be. Chops Gary twice, then Danni, then Lydia. When you have a coconut chop and you have a sheep like Cindy following the boot order...maybe you should take that seriously. Just sayin'.

Followed by Bobby Jon/Jamie laughing their asses off. It's great, especially given that this is the first episode all season where I feel like Steph is becoming the main villain of Guatemala.

She got to share the NuYaxha tribe's chocolate (despite losing) at Danni's birthday party.

The merge brought the pool to NuNakum despite losing it.

Merge immunity challenge, Steph sat out and feasted instead.

Final 9, Judd gave Steph a share of his reward.

Final 8, Steph actually won reward.

Final 7, Steph bitched about people commenting on her getting all those rewards.

Final 6, despite openly competing against Judd for the family member reward, Judd gave it to Steph all the same.

Big Brother 5 was my least favorite big brother this time there were plenty of more people I disliked than I did like on this one. That being said the winner is the second best winner to this point in my humble opinion. Some may be the biggest glory hog horrible human beings in the show to this point to. Just those kind of people who think they're shit don't stink. That being said the people I did like I liked a lot.

Though, Survivor is much more Social based at the time it is still social based now but sometimes strategy breaks through, I feel like this says a lot to the strangle hold Steph's alliance had on the game. The way she treated people on the way out though is why I feel she lost.

Two episodes left of Guatemala. Sadly, I think the 8 players booted in the middle of the season are probably the best of the cast. The first five are meh, and the last five are varying levels of eh. But at least those middle eight are great characters.

I mostly agree with this except I'd include Rafe with the middle 8. I'm also not a fan of Jamie Newton but I won't deny that he was an electric character that helped shape the middle portion of the season.

Palau and Guatemala are the only two seasons I need to have my wife watch (other than Borneo, sorta). Together the two of us have watched 6-9, 12 & 13, and then 15-36.

I tried to get her to watch Borneo but she was so bored after the first episode. Never attempted 2-5 or 14.
