Honestly better than the newer Spiderman movies. The Tobey Maguires ones are more grounded in reality or idk how to explain but it just had this feel to it. The newer ones have just so much going on lol.

I didn't watch it so I need to see it too judge. I liked 1 and 2 though. Especially 1

Venom and New Goblin should have been the only villains in it. Venom should have been in because he was the villains fans wanted to see the most. New Goblin because he was built up since the first movie.

I thought the "but who REALLY killed Uncle Ben?!" Retcon was dumb, but otherwise thought Sandman was the strongest arc of the movie.

Harry was stupid and didnt really carry a lot of presence as a villain. He was sort of just there. Venom had some great scenes but overall was pretty weak.

The Spidy trilogy is entirely unwatchable for me. After both Garfield and Holland, the original trilogy was pretty shitty in hindsight.

Most pre-MCU Marvel movies are unwatchable now. The movies that are going on now are how comic movies should be. With references, cameos and connections everywhere.

However, I can still watch X-Men. Even The Last Stand. Maybe because I love Jackman and Stewart too much.

Ew. That's easily the weakest part of modern comics book movies. I don't want to watch "The Marvel Universe Starring _______", I want to watch the title character. Dilutes the individual style of each character when they all start blending together.

Like, all of these characters by now have decades of great stories and mythology built up. They dont need to constantly be crossing over to be interesting.

They weren't. Eddie in the Ultimate universe was Peter's childhood friend and an aspiring scientist. Eddie wasn't like that in Spider Man 3.

We're beyond single shit. It's been repeated through movies and other media countlessly.

And I'm not talking about a huge amount. More like, idk, how the comics do it. Where things like being in Spidy's neighborhood would be acknowledged by Wolverine walking by or something like Thor Ragnarok.

I'm sorry you don't like that, but the MCU is what it is due in great part by the connected feeling of the universe (for the most part).

Nah, both are garbage but at least Spiderman 3 is pretty good as an unintentional comedy. ASM2 has some unintentionally funny moments but mostly I just sit there straight faced like this isn't even bad enough to be interesting, it's just bad.

I don't like the entire Rami trilogy but they're a constant source of laughs at least. ASM1&2 are just sleep inducing.

Homecoming is the only actually good one, and even then it's just good in the really solid formulaic summer blockbuster kind of way.

I think the only superhero movie so far that's legitimately been able to surpass itself from being a good blockbuster to being a legitimately great movie period is Logan. And no I didn't forget The Dark Knight exists.

With 6 films Spider-Man has barely scratched the surface of his rogues gallery and now Iron Man and the Avengers has basically been written into his origin story. Literally his first issue involved getting kicked out by the Fantastic Four and forced to work out his own, personal identity as a hero from the ground up. Kind of takes a lot of the edge out of Parker's struggles when Tony Stark can write him a personal check. >_>

A handful of easter-eggs for the attentive viewer is fine, but Marvel ends up turning entire scenes into commercials for different movies. <_<

That's the thing. You even point it out yourself. Things don't always translate well or come out half assed and they've been doing Spider-man cartoons for several decades now, so it's not like there's no exposure.

And nothing says those rich stories can't be told. Once again you bring up the F4 as a precursor to Spidy's career. That right there would be awesome and is what I'm talking about. Imagine Spidy being introduced during an F4 movie.

For one, the movies should do their own thing and borrow stories and make them digestible. I don't see anything wrong with Homecoming and how Spidy is now Tony's protege. It's way more interesting than him being alone the last 5 shitty movies before that.

I get where you're coming from, but honestly as huge fan of the MCU, I really like where they've been heading.

Even the cartoons were full of cameos. Iron Man himself worked with Spiderwoman and was her BF in the 90s series. There was a whole season with Blade in Spider-man TAS. As well as a whole season working with IM, CA, the F4, Storm and a bunch of other motherfuckers I forget.

Why not? Me and tons of others really enjoy that.

At the end of the day, it's the Marvel universe. They shouldn't have to stick to specific IPs when you have a whole universe to work with. The only reason it was limited before the MCU was simply because of who owned the rights. Not some mission to keep them separate.

Nah Black Panther was pretty amazing just as a movie in its own right.

Haven't seen that one yet. I'm not entirely caught up on the MCU but even highly rated ones like The Avengers was just 100% forgettable blockbuster material to me. It was neat having all the characters in one movie but so much of it didn't stick with me by the next day after I saw it. I basically just remember Hulk and Loki because it was the only thing I wasn't expecting to happen when it did, "I'm always angry" because of the memes, and the fact that the entire ending was basically a copy/paste of the ending of Transformers 3 which had me surprised that of all the things to rip off, they chose Transformers 3.
Which I'm only bringing up The Avengers because many still hold that one in really high regard, and did at the time as well, and I couldn't care less for it even existing. So maybe I'm not really the demographic for those films. I simply grew out of them as I got older. Which I'm at an age where I was a kid for both the pre and post MCU. So the pre MCU movies I had nostalgia for I'm able to see without the nostalgia looking back, and post MCU movies, I was just getting old enough to start caring more about things critically. I thought Iron Man 1 was a great summer blockbuster and then from there it's been really formulaic and quite frankly boring to me except a few exceptions like Guardians, which while nothing groundbreaking, have me a level of enjoyment things like The Avengers simply didn't. And I'd written off X-Men, which I enjoyed as a kid, but as I was a but older I didn't care for much anymore until First Class which while admittedly story wise wasn't really anything groundbreaking either, had stellar performances and a dynamic particularly from James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, which made it stand out to me more, then Logan really hit me out of nowhere with how good it was and going with a completely different direction and tone than I expected. Even with knowing it was rated R and knowing it was acclaimed, I was expecting to be underwhelmed and for the R to come from mostly just throwing in a bit more violence with his attacks and some more edgy dialogue dropping some extra "fucks" and such, not for it to completely tonally abandon the previous movies in every way and do what it did.

So not going to write off ones I haven't seen like Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Infinity War, which I've heard good things about, but if they hit with me or not seems to be kind of random. I can never really go by the general consensus for them.
