For me, it probably would've been Sonic Forces if I didn't look into reviews first. Sticker Star still takes the cake.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness

I am a huge fan of tri-Ace and everything they put out, I have loved...Except that. It is the most disappointing game I have ever played, and is one of the few games I sold as soon as I beat it once; which is a rarity for me. I have no interest in ever playing it again, and I tend to replay all my games.

Fable. Because I took Molyneux's promises to heart, and the reviews I read mentioned nothing about it having less content than advertised.

That, or Secret of Mana after revisiting it. It's a mess of game design.

As much as I loved Saga Frontier, is how much I hate Unlimited Saga. Not only was it a complete dumpster-fire, I was suckered in by it being part of the same series.

Okay, I could see that. I felt that way about SFV immediately after launch too. I've a sneaking suspicious BBTAG is going to feel the same way too, if you don't buy all the day one dlc.

I usually don't get my hopes up that much for games after the Fable 1 shenanigans (still a good game though), so I guess the biggest disappointments I can think of are

1) second half of MGSV
2) finding out the limits of the pawn system in Dragon's Dogma
3) the quarter-assed story in The Legend of Korra game

Oh man, what was up with it being stage-based in the same mansions? It's like getting a little far in Resident Evil, and then starting over at the beginning when you have to go do something else.

That killed the game HARD.

Did you end up getting used to it? I had the exact same reaction when I got to that screen, but I realized that if you approach it more like an open-world explore-fest, it's a lot better. I too went in with a "omg can't wait for this elite story" attitude, but I realized it just wasn't that type of game. Once I approached it like a BotW go-at-your-own-pace, exploring, mapping, questing, and etc., it became a lot more enjoyable.

I wanted to rip it too at first, but it's actually a really good game. I agree not as good as 1, but it's different enough that it's actually hard to compare the two.

Eternal Darkness on Gamecube. Was bored to tears playing it, never saw the appeal.

The Last Of Us, kind of, in that people were toting it as one of the greatest games ever made. I liked it but to stick that acclaim on it made me do a double take.

Either Grand Theft Auto IV or Mass Effect 2. Both of them killed my interest in each series. I played the PS2-era GTAs and ME1 to 100% multiple times too.

I was hugely disappointed with it, but what made it worse was it took so long to happen. I put 80+ expecting the story to become interesting, more sidequests to open up, the combat to pick up...and none of it happened.

Farcry 3. The first two games are some of my favorites of all time for their own reasons. 3 was just an FPS version of Assassin's Creed and was bland as fuck.

Yeah I didn't care for the story or the main characters either. It was fun getting to know the ancillary characters though, but yeah as you say, getting affinity high enough to get to those missions was a pain in the ass.

Evolve

As a huge L4D fan it was one of my most hyped games this generation. Then they released 30% of a game a charged 10 bucks per chunk after that. What's even worse if despite the Shiite DLC practices the game itself was still very boring anyway.
