srsly, what did he even do?
the only common criticism I ever see is the vague lashing of him being responsible for bombing citizens yadayada in the middle east, something that was already existing before he was president and yet when Trump intervenes in Syria, republicans suddenly go crazy on he's helping to flush out ISIS.

I dont hate Obama I just dont like the insane amount of praise he gets for doing literally nothing. If he had been white wed be calling him one of the most ineffectual presidents of all time.

those in the high risk pools are actually able to get insurance now. previously they'd be paying ~$30,000/year for coverage.

but now everyone else is paying for them, rather than them being off on their own as a massive sunk cost that uses the ER as a doctor and causes any regular person without insurance (or with poor insurance) to get slammed with massive bills for any hospital treatments.

I mean, the guy went ahead and signed all kinds of deals without Congress approval. Cost millions of Americans their hard earned money in Obamacare, Fast and Furious, lied about the Benghazi incident to save Hillary, drone strikes, and imo, has spied on the Trump campaign since day one.

First, I am registered as a republican.

I didn't hate him. I really don't think he did anything. His biggest accomplishment is, of course, healthcare but I think it has half-assed, rushed and not very good.

I do get a kick out of watching the same people who whine, bitched and insulted him for 8 years get their panties in a bunch over the media complaining a current president who has a public tantrum almost every time he hears a bad thing about himself.

Pretty much this. Although I don't really care much for his later years as the president, I really get annoyed when people try to sweep things under the rug for him like wanting to go to war with Syria.

On our end, no, they aren't a big deal. Saying that I'm sure that the people under the crosshairs, or in the building under the crosshairs have life changing experiences.

the funny thing in today's military context is how we still train infantry but when it comes down to real operations, unmanned drones and machines are used to do the job instead.

If you look at battles conducted these days, it's usually just spamming airstrikes left and right. Soldiers hardly fight as much anymore (unless it's a rescue operation or specific target mission eg. kill Osama)

- Ramping up ICE and its use of deportations
- Building an unaccountable drone warfare apparatus
- Refusing to hold anyone accountable for torture, leading directly to Gina Haspel becoming head of the CIA
- Presiding over (and playing a part in) a decline for the Democratic Party at every level

sometimes foreign intervention IS needed. If US didnt intervene in post-WWII, we'd have a world mostly run by communists. South Korea would be communist, Germany would be communist. The US intervened similarly in Syria to overthrow the Assad regime, just like how Russia is intervening in Syria (and the only foreign country still to do so) just to keep Assad in power. All countries only intervene when there's political interests involved, and rightfully so.

If USA doesn't intervene at all and keep to themselves like some isolationist nation, their influence in other parts of the world would spread thin and give way to influence to OTHER rival countries and this ultimately affects your own home country.
If US hasnt been putting pressure on China over the South China Sea, China would have won by now (and they alrdy are anyway). Taiwan is another example with US standing in the way. China will be sparking an annex over Taiwan one day, but it's been stalled only thanks to US intervention.

I don't hate him but one thing that hasn't been mentioned yet: race relations got worse under Obama and as the leader of the country I do think he is partly to blame.

He didn't just order drone strikes; he specifically targeted an American citizen. That person was not collateral damage; he was the target.

Overall I think Obama was a good president, especially with the Congress he had. But the above is one thing (not the only thing) about his presidency that bothered me.
