watching royal wedding at 4 am. cat used litter and then got hyper and ran across the living room. and then I heard an angry thump. I really might need to confront this person. I don't think they realize it's just a cat making these noises. in the past this person has gotten mad while I was trying to sleep in my bed, just cause the cat jumped off the bed. pretty sure they think it's me doing it all.

How in the world can a cat make that much noise.

You need to go down there and tell your neighbor to get a grip.

My upstairs neighbor of 2 years just moved out about a month or so ago. They had two dogs that would bark a ton if nobody was home, especially if theyd hear me do something as simple as close a cabinet door.

And one of those dogs was a greyhound. Those arent quiet. Id have been thrilled to have an upstairs neighbor with just a cat during that time...

Man that's just apartment living. Not sorry, if you want a quiet place, go rent or buy a home.

I mean, there are limits to reasonable noise, and complaining is justified when people violate those, but expecting silence is unrealistic.

Yea, although you could always have quiet neighbors too.
Or instead of a house, you could always rent a duplex. Sometimes you can get really lucky and not have anyone in the duplex next to you.

I see what you mean. Blatant disregard for other people is one thing, but a random noise at 4 am is different. It's not as if TC has music going 24/7, so I'm definitely on their side. My comment earlier was more directed towards whoever lives under them (as if they can read it lmao)

Get a sledgehammer and lay a plank of hard wood on the floor. Next time they thump you, whack the fuck out of that board with the sledgehammer so they know how much worse it could be.

I had a neighbor once below me who complained about every noise.

Eventually I stopped caring, forced them to live in a miserable world, and they moved out.

Just complain about them waking you up at 4 AM beating on their ceiling.

I was in bed and I remember waking up to some thumping. and my cat was leaving the room. I think he had jumped off a little before

complain to the landlord or property manager and tell them they can't be beating on your ceiling whenever they want because they were burdened with super human hearing.
