Given that they have no choice in the matter and will likely remain ignorant of the true nature of reality for the rest of their lives.

By definition, if absolute determinism exists, then no one has any choice whether or not to believe in free will, and whether or not they do makes absolutely no difference at all. Nor is there any virtue in not believing, since you didn't have any choice either.
