And the thing was already loaded with a crap ton of nes, genesis, and Gameboy games.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening. "New" from store already cracked?

Not saying I'm not kinda stoked...I was just wondering if this has maybe happened to anyone else and if I need to expect any sort of problems down the road.

When you say new "from store", like you actually bought it from a brick and mortar, and it came like that?

Either way, this definitely doesn't sound "new" to me, and I'd be skeptical that it's a counterfeit version. It probably works fine but there's no use paying $80 for that. The collectable-ish nature and the authenticity is the main appeal, I mean it's not like setting up emulators on your own is hard.

Yup. Bought it at target...as for the collector aspect. I'm fine with it the way it is as long as I don't run into any issues down the road, as nintendo issnt going to honor its warranty. I was told I could return it...but I have to find a store that has them in stock....ease said then done where I'm at. Was also told I could buy the extended target warranty and if anything happenes...they will repair it...

I don't know if I believe this. It's possible some employee took it out and messed with it, but if they took it home wouldn't the store have known? Did the packaging look fucked up? Stuff like that is hard to re-pack with the factory-sealed look

And I don't think Target would re-sell a returned item as new, but it could be possible that somebody bought it, somehow bricked it with their mods, and returned it without telling the store. Maybe Target re-stocks unopened merchandise and the person who returned it lied that it was unopened.

Everything looked totally legit. Package was nice and clean...everything was all packed in nice and neat. Hell the foam wrapping that the unit came in was (looked) unmolested and all the cords and what not looked like factory.

Oh, now I'm remembering that I think mine came with a poster. Did you have one?

Anyways, I think you should bring it back. I'm still going with the most likely possibility being that somebody returned it because they fucked something up modding it. Maybe if you tell them they'll see if they can order an exchange for you from another store... or just go look somewhere else. At my Walmart a week or two ago they had like four of these in stock, so I don't think they're scarce yet.

It has a poster of sorts on the other side of the set up instructions. I might do that...on the other hand, my cuson might wanna trade units. His is factory... but mine has sunset riders loaded on it and he has a huge hard on for that title.

I think you'd be better off checking around other stores in the area and modding it yourself if you can get another one. You really can't be sure why the one you bought came like that and if it's even a good thing.

well warranty info.....that should be real then. I don't know. like I said I haven't gotten mine yet but I heard it supposedly is supposed to come with some ad for Nintendo Power Club. But I also don't think there would be a warranty for a fake console.

I'm thinking about getting one myself. Certainly a better value than simply buying a Super Metroid cartridge.

It has all the games it's sposed to have....but someone loaded a buttload of snes, nes, gameboy, and genesis games onto it...then returned it. After looking thru this thing a bit...I clicked on the legal notice tab. Here's kinda what it says.

"This model system is not for resale! Thus console was model using hakchi2 software. If you bought it already modded, you was scammed."

It then goes on and lists the original line up of games with the date orginally released followed by the copyright symbol and publisher of each game.

I called Nintendo to see what kind of hassle I'm looking at if I want/need to send it in for warrintee work. After taking down. The s/n, they pretty much said that it'should gonna e up to their discretion as to if they will do anything with it. None of the targets around me have any in stick
...so my only options at are either keep it and get A target extended warranty and deal with them within the span of two years....or say **** it and keep it as is and hope it doesn't brick.

so modding it ends your warrenty? eh whatever. as long as it's an official console I wouldn't worry about it too much. factory reset it if you want. or just keep the games. lots of people mod their's. that hackchi2 thing is very popular among owners of NES and SNES Classics
