I don't know if I am just lazy or I don't have enough brain cells/I.Q. to be at least below average at STEM majors, aka pretty much the only way to make money in this world. I can't do math harder than +, -, /, x. I work at a decent place that pays $20/hr but not enough to pay for one room apartment. I got social anxiety so I got 0 friends and having strangers as roommates is a big no no cause I get paranoid they might fuck with my food or steal my stuff. Goddamn I'm tired of being tired of living like a loser.

Hang out at office hours.

Stay up to date on reading the textbook. For STEM courses it helps to skim first then go over it a second time in more detail while taking notes. Solve some problems and make a list of questions for anything you struggle with (the more specific the better).

Keep a journal of your study experience, not just the time spent studying, but what you studied and how it felt. Write down your feelings, including your frustrations and successes.

And you need to find a way out of your social anxiety. When I was in college, a lot of classes had two group projects a semester and that was like half the grade. Plus study groups in general seem to help people

The fact that you think this is definitely part of the reason you are not succeeding

The Bay Area is basically off limits for low wage earners these days sadly.

I couldn't afford it either (yet).

i majored in a liberal arts major.. Struggled for a couple years, then found a biotech program at a local community college and got a certificate.. and I've been working in biotech ever since.. with chem/bio majors.

The secret is grit and looking at the long term. When I started college 12 years ago, I went to a JC and it honestly felt like high school 2.0 to me. Not saying its the reason why I didn't take school seriously.. But I didn't take college as seriously as I should have back then. I was first a comp sci major and struggled with math(failed calculus multiple times), and then got word from the counselor I have to take 6 calculus level courses, and then I was like fuck that. Then went to liberal arts.... and once i transfered to a uni, tried to change to bio, but they wouldn't let me and made an excuse that i had too many credits from JC. After graduating from uni and going back to school again, I took school more seriously.

As you get older, you know better. You take shit more seriously because your brain(prefrontal cortex) is more developed and you know the consequences of your actions, and you're an adult now. You know you only have a finite amount of time in this world, and you gotta make the most of it. You look at the long term goals and know you have work through the hard stuff.. Because eventually you'll get there.. 2-4 years down the line. Without a degree or not, it's up to you to make it happen or fail. Hopefully not the latter. I wasted too much time in school and not taking it seriously. If I went back in time and did bio/chem from the beginning.. and took 3 calculus level courses and got my bachelors. could have gotten in biotech sooner and made more money sooner. 20 20 is hindsight though, and at least I turned it around at the end with a major change and got into a market with a lot of growth. But if someone can learn from my experience and take school seriously, I'd be happy.

Don't fuck around too much. 10 years goes by like its nothing. Life goes by like nothing in general. Make the most of it and don't fucking settle for shit jobs. Always learn something new and make yourself marketable to employees and get an education in a major that is useful. You gotta seriously hustle. In the end , only you can put yourself up there. Nobody will or can do it for you
