I hate this city. Its so damn windy and cold even in summer, and the traffic is at least as bad as LAs.

But it's pretty cool if you like nature and scenary. Go to Point Reyes or the Sutra Bath House or Pacifica. Check out Half Moon Bay and if you are cool with a day trip go down highway one to Santa Cruz or Monterrey Bay Aquarium. The area around SF is cooler than SF.

And yes SF weather sucks.

Do yourself a favor and don't try to park in a parking garage. I don't know if there's some strange laws there that make people do this, but in once case an attendant told me that I couldn't park in the large, empty upstairs lot and that I had to go through a narrow opening to a downstairs lot (ripped up the right side of my rental car trying to do that, thank God for insurance). The next garage I went to, half the garage was empty but the attendant told me to park between two large vehicles in a narrow parking space. Got lucky that time and managed to park ok.

San Francisco is absolutely cold at night. It's consistently 40-50 which doesn't seem bad (I live in Chicago for fucks sake) but considering the temperature fluctuates 40 to 80 to 40 in one day yes it's cold. Anyone who claims that city has great weather must have visited for like a day or two.

40 to 80 over the course of the year. Over a day it's more like 25 at most.

I live in the East Bay (which is slightly warmer), but having to always bring a jacket with you is a pretty good trade for never freezing to death or being boiled alive.

I was there for a conference at the LA convention center for most of the time so I didn't have that long to explore, but I went to the Getty Center, Griffith Observatory, and Hollywood Blvd.

Mostly though it just seemed way too sprawled out.

Yeah as a tourist it would seem strange to do LA to me. As a local its great because there are so many things to do in so many different directions.

It's true that LA is very spread out, but there's nothing to really be done about it.
