Because some of the parents with kids who were shot and killed are wondering why (they feel) a guy who didn't go into the building is getting a decent chunk of change.

So did a quick Google.

Rules of the Pension Plan

Whether or not you can keep your pension depends on whether or not you're vested in the pension plan, and when that vesting occurs is dependent on the rules of the pension plan. It's very common for employers to require a certain condition -- such as employment for a certain number of years -- in order for the plan to be vested. Once a person is vested in a pension plan, he or she has the right to keep it. So, if you're fired after you've become vested in the plan, you wouldn't lose your pension. It's also possible to be partially vested in a plan, which would mean that you could keep the portion that has vested even if you're fired.

If he was fully vested I don't think there was anything they could do.

I live near State College... I remember there was a big battle over if Jerry Sandusky could keep his pension or not. I don't remember how that ended though. People were kind of up in arms about taxpayer money going to pay a convicted child molester.

Edit: He kept his pension. I just checked.

The difference with these, if I remember correctly, is that Peterson is not a criminal. IMO, Sandusky should get all of his money taken away and given to victims.

Peterson has not victims. He may be a coward, but it's not the same thing.

Operative word being 'work.'

Something he clearly didn't do.

He shouldn't be allowed to collect a six-figure a year pension months after allowing a school shooting, actively preventing law enforcement from stopping it, and lying about it.

Being fired doesn't take away your pension, that would fuck over every worker.

Yes, they let him retire instead of firing him SPECIFICALLY so he could collect his six-figure pension.

Blue protects blue above all.
