I don't think they can do much to merge the gameplay. Maybe some sort of "open world" GPS game where you control Link, battle stuff in your neighbourhood, gyms being dungeons etc. You win good gear from gyms and Pokemon can be playable?

Not enjoying it as much I used to, but it's still decently fun. I think if Just Cause borrows some things from the Mercenaries games, it would really be the perfect successor. Just Cause 2 and 3 are great, but I've always disliked the lack of airstrikes. The main point of Just Cause is causing as much destruction as possible, and it would be nice if you had more options to accomplish that.

The Deck of 52 or something similar would be really nice for Just Cause as well. And I think developers these days can flesh that system out a lot better than it was done in Mercenaries.
