Has it actually gone as globally viral as the Dutch news implies?

I am talking about the French family leaving their car while in a safari park and being extremely lucky their youngest did not get torn apart.

Was some slight language confusion while posting, apparently Cheeta's are not Leopards, while we call them "hunting-leopards" in Dutch...

Cheetahs are like the least scary of the big cats as well. Awesome creatures, but if I had to get into a fight with a big cat, I'd likely choose a cheetah as my opponent.

Looks like the cat was defending territory more than anything else, cheetahs are one of the least aggressive wild cat predators, in the wild theyre actually hunted by more species than they themselves hunt and eat

In zoos its common for them to be raised with a dog as a companion because dogs and cheetahs get along really well and they have similar lifespans

Many behavioural scientists have spoken on Dutch tv the last few days. All seemed to imply that Cheetahs see figures under 1.50 as prey and larger as danger. Not to mention stating relief the kid did not run away, as a "small target away from the herd" would have been considered prey by them.

Abortion clinic protesters should go hold their signs around cheetahs to curb this kind of behavior

People are dumb.

Does it make me a bad person if I was kinda hoping that theyd get attacked so that they can learn their lesson?

I'm glad they've no reason to harm the cats, just to teach the people a lesson.

Kinda, considering the parents are the ones completely in the wrong here, dragging the kids along in their stupidity. With the kids being the ones more likely to get seriously hurt.

If the cats attacked, do you really think that theyd be put down? I mean theyre just relying on instinct. And arent they endangered?

What bothered me the most is how the mother was all pissed off at the cats like if she got bad service at a restaurant. I was then hoping shed tripped and gotten mauled right there at the spot.

If it was in the interest of the park's safety, they might. They could still separate the "offending" cat from the others and have it caged in somewhere. Luckily it seems everyone is safe and hopefully those people are banned from ever going there and being dipshits again.

They're the only "big cat" that can purr but cannot roar.

I cannot believe how some people do not seem to understand animals and animal behavior. I thought this was about the 2 year old in Uganda just a few days ago being taken by a leopard.

Leopards are fucking scary. Walk under the wrong tree and one of those maniacs might jump down 20 feet onto your head.

Did you even read that article? It wasn't tourists. In that case it seems like the Leopard was actually stalking the kid.
