I hear people repeating over and over about how it was a bad deal but what parts of it exactly were bad for the US and why is tearing it up and escalating the situation a better deal??

From my limited knowledge:
The Iran deal is supposed to lift all sanctions and allow a relatively free trade to Iran, bolstering their economy. In exchange, Iran is to reduce their nuclear weapon research and development centers (like the enrichment facilities). I believe what Trump is saying is that this deal is bad because it does not require Iran to stop their nuclear weapon R&D and production; only slow it down.

Yup. The whole problem is that Iran is not forced to stop research into nuclear weapons. Our strategic Ally in the region is Isreal. Iran has repeatedly said that they want to eradicate Israel.

You cannot allow a hostile power nukes if you can allow it. The balance of power would shift dramatically and not in favor of the US.

Iran is cucking every country thats part of that agreement.

Pretty, pretty please dont make anymore nuclear weapons! Here, even though these sanctions started because you were being assholes, well lift them if you promise not to do it. Oh, but its just for 10 years.

Oh the US backed out? Yeah go ahead that totally justifies starting your nuclear program back up so you can nuke Israel. Damn Trump!

Trump is violating the agreement because it was one of Obama's major foreign policy achievements, not because it's a bad deal.

Anyone who says otherwise has zero knowledge about the issue, as the above posters have shown.

Iran already knows how to produce nuclear weapons, but the deal required they give up the equipment that would have allowed them to do so, banned uranium enrichment beyond like 3% (when you need ~90% for nuclear weapons), required all nuclear waste be reprocessed or destroyed instead of used for other weapons, and set up the most rigorous and invasive inspection protocols a treaty of this kind has ever had.

Trump's claim that the deal only delays Iran's quest for weapons by a few years is based on the fact that some of the provisions expire after 10 years, but others last 20, others last longer, and the inspection access was indefinite. So of course was the solution was to abandon the deal entirely and... give up all of those restrictions immediately?

Remember when Trump said it was a terrible deal, and still says it was a terrible deal?

If that's the idea, then the US should stop threatening "regime change" to every country Israel and Saudi Arabia don't like in the region. Libya got rid of their weapons program and we all know what happened to them.

The current deal is simply "please Iran, don't make enriched uranium for nukes. We'll just take your word that you aren't doing it." Trump wants the ability to have international inspectors verify their compliance at military installations, which the current agreement does not allow. He also wants the agreement to cover Iran's intercontinental missile program, which the current agreement doesn't address.

Also, Israel released documents last week showing that Iran's claimed compliance was bullshit anyway and that they've still been enriching uranium. Whether that's true or not, it's not acceptable that Iran won't agree to international inspectors to verify this at their military sites.

....yes

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1c/Trump_the_art_of_the_deal.jpg

All that hard work to get Iran to agree to those restrictions, and get Russia and Chinas support. Just gone.

Now Trump expects to get Iran to agree to tougher restrictions and automatically get Russia and Chinas support.

And if he instead chooses tougher sanctions then thatll just be offset by their increased economic ties to Russia and China (who is now their largest trading partner).

You mean the same ISIS that has received support from Israel in order to get rid of Assad? Syria was a beautiful and peaceful country before Saudi Arabia, Israel, the US, and the rest of the gang funneled terrorists in and supported them in starting the "civil" war. Israel is the most destabilizing force in the region because the US does everything they can do carry out their will, even to the detriment of the US. It's ridiculous. Have you not seen politicians tripping over themselves to lick Israel's ass at AIPAC?

Anyway, feel free to tell me how a terrorist organization with dwindling numbers, a president fighting off foreign terrorists to take back his country, and a country that has never initiated conflict are bigger destabilizing forces than a country established by terrorists and that the US goes out of its way to please.

Israel initiated conflict with Iran just recently by killing Iranians stationed in Syria. When Iran did a minor strike back, Israel did a larger disproportionate strike and people were claiming "Israel has the right to defend itself!!!" even though Israel hit first and always hits harder to a ridiculous degree. It's fucking insane.

Oh look, hutton is wrong again

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/30/world/middleeast/israel-iran-nuclear-netanyahu.html

Revealing a huge archive of stolen Iranian nuclear plans, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel accused Iran on Monday of lying for years about its efforts to build a nuclear weapon.

Days before President Trump was to decide whether to pull out of the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, Mr. Netanyahu presented records from a secret warehouse in Tehran, making the case that Iranian leaders had deceived the international nuclear agency when they insisted their nuclear program was for peaceful purposes. Israeli spies seized the documents in an overnight raid in January, a senior Israeli official said.
...
Mr. Netanyahu, in a highly theatrical presentation from the Israeli Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv, played clips of Iranian leaders repeatedly attesting that their country harbored no ambition for building nuclear weapons and then pointed to photos, videos, blueprints and other evidence Israeli agents had harvested, he said, that showed the Iranians had been deceitful all along.

These files conclusively prove that Iran is brazenly lying when it said it never had a nuclear weapons program, Mr. Netanyahu said, pointing to copies of what he said were 55,000 printed pages and 183 compact discs.

BTW, not taking Israel's word here at face value either, but this is why I agree that inspectors need access to military sites also.

Israel's documents detailed activity as far up as 2003 which they started during Bill Clinton's administration and had to stop because 9/11 happened and W Bush decided every country in that region had WMDs so sanctions and inspections happened everywhere and they ended up canning the projects to weasel out of some of the sanctions.
