Bit of both. I desperately crave a sim physics open world driving game so that's depressing, but it's also the best arcade racer I've ever played.

It's not an arcade racer.

Any racing game where drifting is worse than doing "slow in, fast out" isn't arcade. It might not be strictly sim but I see no reason to refer to it as an arcade racing game.

Don't even.

The cars don't respond to changes in surfaces or bumps beyond arbitrary sliding on glass distance, you get no bite, no roll, drifting is just holding accelerator longer, etc. etc. etc.

I've played Gran Turismo for years and moved on to Project Cars and Assertion Corsa, I also drift cars IRL, I know the minimum a sim racer needs to express to remotely be called sim.

They really aren't. That's like saying games with in-depth mechanics are quite dull, but cookie clicker is a fucking gold mine of entertainment. The more factors to consider, the more means to act, the more room to perfect.

Sims are sims because of the volume of real factors more so than the accuracy, and FH3 has neither relative to any simcade and up game I've played.

Dude, FH3 has a DLC that lets you drive on Hot Wheels tracks vertically. They're not claiming to be "realistic" but compare that to something like NFS Payback and there is a huge gulf of difference in terms of driving mechanics.

Literally feels like NFS: Most Wanted.

idgaf about realism, but I want the car to respond like a physical object would. I'm not complaining about unrealistic levels of grip, impossible conversions and whatnot, but it's annoying that cars slide over curbs like they were painted on.
