I'm not sure it's a particularly useful label given the broad range of people it's been applied to. And, quite honestly, you have democrats who are also disturbingly hawkish. As a general policy, I'm not sure that I support the proliferation of democracy in regions that don't necessarily have a good history or understanding of democracy because those governments can quickly devolve into even worse states.

I couldn't agree more. In the west, we tend to think "we have it good and everyone else would automatically love our way of life" when that's very inaccurate. There are many cultures that don't thrive within our way of doing things or will simply take advantage of it and corrupt it.

My dad worked national security, and one of the other guys in it at the time said some Russians referred to North America as "the land of uncaring fools" because it was so easy for them to abuse our system.

Um the spread of democracy has seen the decline of violence worldwide along with near elimination of hunger for most of the world

If you really think things would be better with more monarchies, dictatorships, and communist governments, then fucking lol

Which is more the result of free trade and open markets than it has anything to do with democracy. The greatest vehicle for prosperity and peace has been capitalism. No matter what kind of government you have, if your neighbors are your trading partners you have an incentive to not attack them. However, if you're not trading with them, it doesn't matter if you're a democracy because you're going to try to fuck with them -- which the US has historically done to its non-trading partners, including facilitating the overthrow of governments throughout South America to place governments more friendly to US businesses.

Keep in mind that the world's largest warring power has been the US, which is is one of the world's most notable democracies.

And, excluding monarchies, you get worse versions of those kinds of governments when democracy fails in a region. Keep in mind that Syria, which nobody considers a functional nation at the moment, is a democracy and Bashar is its elected president. But I'll cut you some slack because you just become "woke" when Trump was elected president.

Something that obviously has no association with democracy at all

But I'll cut you some slack because you just become "woke" when Trump was elected president.

A claim youve made repeatedly based on nothing at all. Fake news pulled directly from your posterior

The two aren't necessarily intrinsically connected. And it's capitalism that's been the driving force for democracy in many nations, particularly concerning the advent of social media.

Other than your political knowledge (or, more specifically, lack thereof) and sudden interest in political conversation.

Fake news, and pretty ironic at that given that youre arguing that free trade and democracy dont have strong ties

Fucking lol dude
