Board 8 > B8 chooses my next PS4 game

I was playing Nier on PS3, but eventually stopped for two reasons:
1) It's pretty boring IMO and the story isn't strong enough to hold up the uninteresting gameplay
2) My friend wanted to borrow my PS3 to run through all the God of War games before he played 4 so I let him take it for now

So then I hopped on over to the Shadow of the Colossus remake, which I platinum'd, and then took a slight detour to FFXV once I realized there were new trophies to get.

Btw, (slight FFXV spoilers) the new Insomnia area is a large improvement over the original Chapter 14 Insomnia. It's still within the same spot in the game, but the city area is expanded, there's a couple of characters that return at a great time, Kings of Lucis get more involved, and the glaive is present which actually ties in with the Comrades multiplayer pretty well. It's cool.

Now I am wanting to start a new game as soon as I finish final exams this week. These are the three I have my eye on for now. I have other games I will be playing over the Summer, but I don't want to do them right now. These include Rise of the Tomb Raider, Beyond Two Souls, The Last Guardian, God of War 4 (which I'm getting for my birthday in June), and one last game that I won't mention because if I know B8 well enough you'll all try to tell me to play it now.

Will start the game on Wednesday.

I had to vote for Mass Effect. Though I know that game gets a bad rep, I do feel it is worth even one play through for the story alone. The multiplayer wasn't too bad on it either.

I'll finish it at some point and let you know if I was wrong but let's be honest, NieR 1 is not a great game. It relies on its story pretty hard. I have not finished that story, so idk how that's gonna be, but so far, the characters have not made me interested enough. Emil has horrible VA with not great dialogue so he just sounds melodramatic even when it should be appropriate to be dramatic. Kaine is a little too emo for my taste, hoping she tones that down as the story finishes up. Weiss is easily the best character and I don't have any real complaints with him.

I'm also feeling like the story has lacked focus so far. There's a whole lot trying to happen and, while there is a very clear main issue, there hasn't been a whole lot of actually doing something about that main issue. The whole game so far has felt like a sidequest and the Yonah issue just kinda pops its head in when it needs to remind you that that's really supposed to be the main issue.

the problem is that if you rely on your story that much, then you gotta show up with that story being fantastic. and the story has not been fantastic so far. it's been kinda eh.

again, my opinion could change once I beat it! if the last quarter-to-half of the game is better about this, then it won't fix the first half of the game but it will make it worth playing

already beat it, was great but maybe dragged on a bit too long and the ending was kiiinda dumb.

big goblet turns into cool looking thing and big-goblet-turned-cool-looking-thing defeats teenage heroes only for them to end up winning anyways cause they heard their name or something

maybe that's being a little harsh, i suppose yelling their name powered them back up because it was the public's cognition of them and the real world and mementos had been merged, but it just felt silly

Honestly skip Watch Dogs and go straight to Watch Dogs 2

1 is ok but the protagonist sucks and the game gets pretty bland and repetitive.

Watch Dogs 2 improved on it in every way with a great cast, fun mechanics, and really just better everything (and is almost entirely self contained so you won't miss out on much by skipping 1 except maybe not knowing who like 1 character is)
