This.

Realistically speaking, the moment they were asked to leave by Starbucks and refused to do so they were trespassing. Regardless of whether or not the request warranted, if management asks you to leave and you don't, you CAN be arrested and it IS lawful. City shouldn't owe them shit. Starbucks yeah sure whatever, but the city didn't do a damn thing wrong.

Neh. I just live in a world where things Im not sure of are just things I don't know. I don't fill in the blanks with assumptions. If the truth presents itself to me I acknowledge it and if it hasn't yet it stays blank or I fill it with a loose theory. I use that theory in hopes it'll get corrected by someone more knowledgeable so I can upgrade it. That's how you avoid living in ignorance.

Starbucks incident was a racism hoax but Starbucks caters to the type of crowd who always falls for that sort of thing, they had to accept the accusation. They had to start accepting fake coupons. They had to start allowing any and every non paying customer use their bathrooms. They had to start accepting loiterers. No choice because that's what their customer base demanded.

They were asked by management to leave private property and refused. Literally trespassing. Whether or not they should've been asked to leave in the first place doesn't matter.

They were waiting for someone before they ordered their drinks.

I don't understand why y'all are continuing your skepticism when all parties involved support their side of the story, including the cops, the other customers, other employees there and the corporation itself.

And have y'all never gone to a fucking Starbucks before? Purposefully trying to misunderstand this is simply clearly out of a racial bias.

Never expect any honest answers from spudger or FrisbeeDude when it comes to race issues. Of what I gathered from the information, I am inclined to agree that the police were called and were fulfilling their duty. Maybe they could have asked the Starbucks manager some questions to get a better handle on the situation. But in the end they did what was asked of them by Starbucks.

I imagine the city is becoming a part of the settlement to show that this was a situation they may not have agreed with how it was handled fully, so as to save face themselves and for the officers from any perceived guilt they might be viewed to have in light of the protests.

My ilk, huh? And what would that be? Because I wont trash the cops for doing their job? The fault lies with the Starbucks manager who they fired. The cops did nothing wrong. Starbucks should be settling not the city.
