Honestly...I think the pager is indicative of where Captain Marvel is right now. All we know is that Fury is paging her...not necessarily when he is paging her... My guess is the tricked out pager is sending a message back in time to her. As weird as it may sound, I honestly think they could have just used a standard cell phone or something similar if they just needed to call her.
