Like, this is the fifth or sixth time in the past few years that I outright pick up a game expecting to like it and playing for the first ten minutes completely turns me off.

- Happened with Lightning Returns
- Happened with Type 0 HD
- Happened with Undertale (for different reasons mind you)
- Happened with FFXV

It would have happened to Nier: Automata too if I haddn't seen a stream of the first area. All of these games are classified as "JRPGs", and I have a long history of liking JRPGs (Remember 1337_FF_GoD?). But I just can't get into these weird as action games. The battle systems in these games are like not at all what I think of when I hear someone say JRPG.

Also praise Steam's refund system because I will be getting that $50 back. Took longer to download (around 8 hours) than was necessary.

Have you been surprised by enjoying any titles you didnt necessarily think you would in recent years?

Have you played Kingdom Hearts and what were your feelings towards it if yes? Maybe the genre just isn't for you.

I liked Nier automata and undertale but I agree with you on the FF games. Last FF game I really liked was FF9.. that's a long time ago now. FFX and FFXII are decent and I did play through them but didn't fully enjoy them.

I played KH1, KH2 and BBS like 10? years ago. I had no issues with them and they did what they did pretty well.

Rimworld, Warframe (900 hours in 6 months), The Trails in the Sky series (I was hugely surprised by these). That's just the past couple of years.

FFXIII-2 was notable in that I hated FFXIII and really enjoyed XIII-2.

Interesting! I also ask because I enjoy KH but haven't played XV yet and want to know how likely it is that I would get some fun out of it lol

I have a history of buying games and absolutely hating them within seconds of starting. I wouldn't overthink this thread - there are plenty of people that like the game.

I don't know. It really wouldn't be weird to dislike XV. It has a lot problems.

I've dropped Skyrim three times now, each attempt only an hour in. I know how that works. I really don't like the excuse "it gets good at 20 hours!!!" Do you know how many games I could beat in 20 hours?!

People use that excuse for FF XIII as well. I don't want to play a game for 20 hours to see if I like it, should be an hour tops.

Although I have NEVER heard people use that excuse for Skyrim. If anything you should be able to tell right after the opening sequence once the world opens up. That is only like...15 minutes into the game.

what pisses me off the most, is they released a new dlc pack that adds a new map, first person view, an improved armiger, a boat, and a quest for the regalia type-D, and more achivements

but it costs fucking money.

what?

the map, sure that could cost money. that's normal. it's just a small new area between whatever place and insomnia. it's dumb, but it's an actual thing.

the other shit though? that should just be free. a better armiger mechanic? what the fuck. first person? that's just like a "llol why not" thing. and a quest for the monster truck? that's really just what? i already have it. if i buy this pack, will i not have it anymore until i do this dumb quest? like what the fuck
