The Kickstarter is, sadly, not likely to reach its target, so they put out a very eleventh hour demo as a last ditch effort to hit the target. And it shows, 'cause it's super rough and there's barely anything to do, but you can get a feel for the mood that the game is going for, at least.

Swery says he'll keep trying to get the game made even if the KS fails though, so hopefully he does.

Deadly Premonition was meh: interesting and significantly more charming than it initially appeared but ultimately not a great game because it was filled with horrible horrible flaws. SWERY ain't exactly the first person I'd give millions of dollars to so he could make another game.

Most of the flaws were graphical, gameplay and performance issues though. Swery was the writer/director, not the developer and he's making this with a new studio.

I liked it! It was slightly off-kilter, which is Swery's style. Could probably do with toning down Naomi's assholeness a tiny bit though.

Man, the demo has really helped support for the Kickstarter. Kicktraq still has it on course to be underfunded, but its had a big jump in the last few days. Maybe Ill increase my pledge a little

I posted a topic on this the day it came out and no one replied.

But yeah, honestly I thought the demo was terrible. The writing is absolutely horrendous and I hate the main character. I was actually kinda relieved it wasn't going to get funded so I could get my money back. I suppose if it does make it, then whatever. Hopefully the game itself is written better than this atrocity.

I don't see it hitting $800k for the Switch version, so that's too bad. Of course it could still be ported later if it does well after release.

After seeing that it actually met its goal, I finally got to playing this demo. I decided to not back the game.

It's not that the writing is horrendous - I mean, this is a demo, and it feels incomplete because it is - it's that Naomi is completely unlikable. I can never enjoy something if I hate the protagonist. She seems like a venomous bitch who is very judgmental and quick to hate everyone.

I'll wait until it comes out (if it does) and see if it's any better. Doubt it will be, though.

I haven't played the demo, but hearing everyone talk about the protagonist - is it possible she's supposed to be an unlikable bitch and she develops into a better person through the story? Don't know if that would be what I expect from a SWERY protagonist but it's not that uncommon generally speaking.

I cant say for certain but the brief summary on the page made me think her becoming a less obnoxious person was part of the story. Like the Iron Man movie. Although objectively Tony Stark is still kind of an asshole.
